    Rusty project 323i

323i, getrag dogleg, LSD with 4 wheel ABS, hand crank windows and sunroof, power mirrors. Paid $1000 for it from a friend who owned it from new.

It needs pretty much everything done to it, so far all I have done it gotten it running and prepped for rust repair. I bought this car to drive in my spare time on local twisty roads. My goals for it are to repair the rust damage, replace all bushings, maybe raise it back up a small amount, either new seats or repair the sport seats, rebuild motor, e36 rack maybe eventually a small turbo or complete swap.

wow, that thing looks like crap. best of luck with it. I would pull the trans out of it and part it out if it was mine.-- but I guess the "rareness" of it in the U.S. makes it a bit cooler.

BTW-- your friend must love you.

It looks slightly less like crap in this one. That's why rust repair is first, if I find anything too nasty I will just buy a less rusty shell to work with.

I like to think the rust is mostly superficial at this point, the jack points have surface rust but seem respectable. Once I dig a bit deeper I decide whether to run this thing to the ground then get a clean shell or try to salvage it.

Input of any kind is welcome, this is my first true project car. Messed up leg= no skiing or biking for 18-24 months, and I will have about 500 a month to put into the car.

The next thing I buy will be a small welder.

I love this car already though, only driven it ~5 miles.

Really it doesn't look too bad. At least in the pics it doesn't look like anything that a POR15 treatment wouldn't take care of. How's it look in the pedal area?
