The big-ticket areas aren't too bad and others have started with far worse (I'm having to replace my whole spare well in my e21). Save it, and don't look back!

          Very small update.

New fuel filter and all rubber fuel lines replaced.
Discovered my charcoal canister was not actually intact and creating a vacuum leak, leak fixed and car running very slightly better.
Fixed CEL by filling the washer fluid tank. (if you are a noob to these cars and have a mystery CEL try stupid crap like lights and fluid)

Wow everyone freaks out from that much rust, lol. It looks pretty good. I'd buy it for a grand and fix it up.

Consider this a lame, photo free teaser.

Just got back from the salvage yard, my wallet is quite a bit thinner.

Total vehicle cost so far is ~2300, my goal is to make it nice for under 5.

Nothing really exciting. Fenders are decent(10000x better then old ones), hood is great, just a couple rock chips and dents. Didn't really need the trunk lid but it was in better shape then mine, had the body matched spoiler and the price was right.

Hopefully they find me a nice pair of recaros soon.

Make sure you save your front fender trim. The fenders you bought came from a late model e30 and they're different than yours.

Nothing a little sandblasting and POR15 cant fix!!! Plus you already got replacment fenders!!

-- little side story-- I'm in the junk yard at an all you can carry out for $50 day, and i have a front plastic bumper, a hood and a trunk lid with iS spoiler.
This other guy goes to me, "O u need a hood for your car?",
I say "yes I do, mine was dented."
He goes, "is your car red?"
and I say no, "its white"....
He looks at me, and pauses, and looks and goes, "so why do you want those parts?"
I look at him, thinking..... umm I'm going to paint the whole car ANYWAYS......

moral of the story... muscle car guys usually have it WAY worse... that rust isn't bad at all! You should have seen my blazer!!!! Few patch panels here or there... violla! These thinks are built like rocks!

goodluck with being off the slopes

rust is not that bad, mostly replacable body panels. with new panels, some flares you'll be good. you should have seen my floor boards/wheel wells before I replaced them.

Most people on here are too lazy/inept to do a little dirty work. Rather just spend the extra thousands on a clean car. But since you are bought it to enjoy(i am guessing driving the hell out of it), why spend money on a clean car that you are going to abuse?

Good find. btw well worth the 1k in my book

I was so pissed i couldn't get off from work when the local one here had this. They had 4 good condition e30's, two with immaculate sport black leather interiors. and one with basket weaves.

actually one of my bestfriends owns a bodyshop- so i am not afraid of rust-- I just know it ALWAYS comes back-- the car will look great for a few years- then it WILL come back through. Ans if the outside has that much surface rust there IS hidden rust too.

Nice catch on the parts. I could see why you are keeping the shell and it does look better than I originally had seen in the first pic.
                              KEEP IT COMING!!!
