car has been on track finally!! took it to njmp thunderbolt last Thursday for a DE with PCA. Car ran fine except for a hard start and idle hunting condition. hard start was due to a faulty FPR which has been replaced and the idle hunt was due to a bad connection at the injector harness. both issues are now fixed. motor felt good (i was granny shifting to let it break in slowly) and the car handled well. overall was a good test. going to summit point in 2 weeks with pca for more testing.
Ok, all majors are done, so now onto the little things we need to tie up before completion.
Today (and last night) was the hood pins. Kish went with these Aerocatch latches that are pretty trick. In hindsight, would have been better (more like easier) to go with the top mounts, but these flush mounts do look pretty hot.
Before cutting up his hood, i did a practice run on a spare hood we had here. The actual hood has the latches swapped around 180*.
I measured about 12 times, and cut once. On top of that, i started with small drill bits and worked my way up to the cut off wheel.
Test run
Here i am cutting up the red hood. I cut the holes a hair too small on purpose so i could open them up later on.
Finished product
I really like the look. Sorry, forgot to snap pics of the pins, but i'll tell you now, i used existing holes that are on the rad support. Pretty straight forward.
