Got kind of a late start today. I did not manage to get much done other then the tear down. One of the manifold down pipe studs was fubar'd and took me an hour messing with it before it decided to snap off. Here are some of the parts that came in today.
Wrapped up the LC-1 install today. I ended up chasing down the 02 sensor wire inside the main harness so that i would not have any extra wires hanging out of the MS module. I mounted the LC-1 on top of the battery tray and pushed all the wiring through all the little nipples on the harness gromet. Very clean but a huge pain to figure out how to get those jacks through a 2mm whole. I mounted everything in the glovebox for now. May hang a pod from the ecu cover in the future. I figure the only time i'll be looking at the AFR is when i'm tunning anyway. Durin some down time i also gutted my GM coils of their inner electronics.
I also mounted the gauge pod which was a nightmare in itself. I had to figure out how to install it w/o taking out the dash. Ended up removing the clip from the steering column and sliding the whole damn out. I'm in the process of tinting the white LEDs inside the boost gauge red.
Started wrapping up my boost gauge pod. This started as 2 pieces, then became 3 pieces, and now back to 1 piece. Need to decide on whether to do it textured or wrinkle. I think i'll do it texture coat and change it if i don't like it.
that is not TCD... everything I saw there today looked spectacular with perfect welds. I drooled the entire time at the skills.
So it's not "TCD"...it's just "T" Pretty sad welds right there. I would have stopped and let a pro finish it. Oh well...this is unfortunate but nothing that can't be cleaned up.

Fact! I've already stated that. If steve jobs put a bunch of parts together and made a computer it would not be an apple computer. Just a computer that happened to be made by an apple employee. I would not expect a warranty for that computer either.
So today i got my TCD schtuff. I was happy and disappointed at the same time. Being TCD i expected great quality. What i got was something that looked like it was take your kid to work day and they let some 10 year old weld it together. Perhaps it was a second quality rejected part that someone took and sold anyway. I don't know what the back story as i bought it off someone else. For all I know its a TCD knock off. Spent a couple hours grinding off ceramic coating and re welding everything. I suck at welding but i did a better job.

depends on my mood and the gravity of the situation. if you look at my car in an untoward way you begget papaya, if it's a light beating required situation never forget kiwi or red peppers
Why didn't you call me? You bought it used from Will. It was a quicky cobbled together build that I did for my vert. Will new the score when I sold it to him. I fabricated the parts and obviously my welding skills are limited.
I don't fabricate our kits. They are done professionally and had you really decided to go big and buy new parts from me you would have received high quality parts.
Bitching on the internet while never voicing concerns to the person or company that you are upset with is LAME and childish.
So what you actually bought was a TCD manifold, rebuilt vintage 80s T04b turbo with new 60 trim compressor wheel and a downpipe cobbled together by yours truly.
Again, you didn't buy these parts from TCD! You bought them second hand from Will.
I did not mean to imply that i bought it directly from you or your company. I thought I was clear about that. I have been having trouble with my post going through on R3V from my droid for some reason. I was never upset with TCD and am a fan of your porducts. If you want I'll edit my post and have responses deleted.

I bought it "used" even thought it appears to have never been used. I'd hit up TCD about it but I have no way of confirming this is his actual product.

so the story is todd welded this up himself for his own car and he does not know how to weld. It was never intended to be sold as a TCD product.

For all I know the person I bought it from received it for free from todd cause they bought some of his personal stash. Does not seem like i have any right to ask him to fix or replace it.
If you were to buy a product (camber plates) from an employee, say Jim @ GroundControl, from a company that specializes in the very product (camber plates) you sought to purchase (Ground Control) ....
Be honest with yourself, would you hold that product you were purchasing from this individual to the standards of the company he represents?
I would.
If i were sold a cheese grater expecting it to be camber plates, I'd be upset.
I think what blunt is implying is that a shady seller most likely tried to pass off a homebrew product under the name of a reputable manufacturer. Furthermore, the implication is that instead of tarnishing the image of a good manufacturer, the OP should have brought these defects up to the manufacturer via private communication prior to calling him out in public. Finally, what he is trying to say was it was not fair to buy something claimed as something from a third party, then going and badmouthing the alleged manufacturer without verification that said product was in fact from their manufacturing.

And,
It has your name on it regardless. It changes things now. In my opinion at least. I wouldn't let anything go out of my hands that I wasn't proud of. It's like a 3d business card. Regardless of the paper it's printed on, it's still got your info on it.

you dont understand my point. op didnt even know at the time where this crap came from. Yet he brings TCD"s name into it before confirming where the parts originated from.. It looks like it did indeed come from Todd but its something he hacked together for his own use and then sold later to a buyer who knew what he was getting. It would be a different story if the op bought it directly from TCD and wasnt happy.. It doesnt take much to trash a companies good name in the niche bmw market on the internet. Thats all im saying. I would have known what i was talking about before posting
if i bought a turbonetics turbo used from farbin and something was problematic in the manufacturing of the turbo, i'd complain all about it on the internet while dealing with the manufacturer like most folks would. the point is he bought a product that shouldn't have been sold to anyone and now because he complained everyones pissed.
onward with the build or i shall empty my sack of mangos and fill it with coconuts and beat you.
Well if it is his product it should be a issue.. Like most manufactures
He'll need to stand behind his product good or bad! So I would believe it's
very warranted...
Oh and fair to who? The guy who paid a lot of money for "good" parts!
but didn't get them..
Or the guy who took his money?
just my
