Here are some pictures of my fuel setup. It's not 100% complete, but you can see what I'm doing. I am running the stock low pressure transfer pump in the tank, to a coarse filter which feeds the surge tank located in the trunk. From the bottom of the surge tank, the Bosch Motorsport 044 pumps through a fine filter, and then up to the rail. The return from the FPR goes back into the surge tank, and then the overflow from the surge tank returns to the tank. It should never starve with this setup.

I remember seeing your car at bimmerfest because of how impressed I was with that sexy cf plenum on that sexy euro engine. Tits mate.
Doing my own prep did not save me any money at all. If fact, they won't guarantee their work if you do the prep yourself since they don't know how good of a prep job you did.
I just had them use the cheap paint. For under $300, you can't expect top of the line paint.

Apologies for digging up an old thread but fantastic build Erik! How would the Mike D setup do for the street + some track? I guess I'm asking if the effort is high enough that it would get to be a chore? Did you ever move to a Tilton box?
Lastly is that Diamondschwarz? A couple of the pictures after Maaco look like the color is a bit different?
Thanks for the info.

So, my progress has been slow, but I finally have some more pictures to update you guys with.
Made my rear diffuser. Still have some finishing touches left to do, but the diffuser is basically done.
I also installed my fiberglass dash, but I'll try to take some pics of it later in the week.

I have not yet installed my Tilton pedal box, but it's still on my to-do list.
It is still supposed to be Diamondschwarz, but it has a bit more metallic to it than factory paint.

Diffuser looks good! And the fact that it stays somewhat subtle until you look under is awesome...well done!
Were you happy with the Maaco job or was this more of a because it's a track car thing?
Casey
About the paint, I was very happy with the Maaco spray. It's not show quality, but I wasn't expecting it to be. For $300, I'd rather have a not perfect paintjob, than a pealing clearcoat any day.

Here's a pic of my fiberglass dash. I threw a quick coat of black primer on it. I will make the cutout for my Stack dash display once I have my seat bolted back in so I can get it positioned perfectly. Once I'm done with that, I'll paint it with a textured black paint.
Here is how i braced the back of the switch panel:

Dash looks much cleaner than I had expected it to look. Excellent job...very clean for a track car.
Any problems with the euro s50 yet? Just curious as I'm trying to figure out whether waiting on an s54 to become viable or saving some dough for an s50b32 is the option to take. Any opinions from you Erik? What was your cost for the motor (if you don't mind my asking)?

How much the motor costs depends largely on the exchange rate at the time. When I bought my motor, the dollar was weaker than it is now and I paid 7 grand for the complete motor and 6-speed tranny (which I ended up selling) shipped.
