    Cleaned up the motor and tranny this weekend. Its amazing what some Purple Power and a Pressure washer will do.

    Painted my valve covers black

    My valves are looking pretty clean for a 68k motor

    Thanks for the link.

    I'm going to go with a Turbo Killer cam (237/242). I want it pretty damn big and lumpy 'cause the car will only get driven on the odd weekend and short distances... and at the track. I'm using the Holden ECU as we can just rewrite it with LS1edit and the guy who is tuning the car for me reckons this cam will absolutely haul in the little E30. Will also set me up nicely for when I (eventually) go ITBs too :D

    I have a project thread on here but the progress on my car has been epically slow and 90% of the thread is just verbal diarrhea. Basic rundown is: L98 6.0L (no air con or PS to make room), custom 1 7/8" headers (if I can squeeze them in), big cam, valve springs, bigger injectors, custom clutch, lightweight flywheel, T56, E36 non-PS rack to fit the headers, E36/318ti 5-lug suspension, Holden VE Commodore brakes (+300mm rotors & twin-piston calipers), custom-made re-routed loom (to make space in engine bay & under dash), Nissan R200 diff & driveshafts, and shitloads more. Just got to pay for it and get some time to get in and do the work!

    I'll be watching this thread closely :)
    wow, sounds like its gonna be an awesome build. Do you already have a cam picked out? specs? I look forward to your progress.

    The headers we did are fairly short for clearance issues. I went with 5/8 primaries, but in retrospect I should have gone for 3/4+. Oh well.

    Here is where i got the motor mount plates. These things seem like they were made for a tank.

    I have Garret and Steve's build CD - how close were your engine mounts to the ones on their plans? Did you go Corvette rubbers or E34?

    I'm looking at doing a remote-mounted booster from a Toyota van under the dashboard, with the master cylinder in the engine bay - kinda like what hot rod guys often do. VH40 and VH44 are the boosters to look at IIRC

    From what I've seen under there you don't need to do much at all to fit a T56 (which is a fuggin' huge gearbox). Garret had to dremel off some of the lugs on the side of the T56 and hammer a couple of small humps out.

    the mounts are very similar to Garret and Steve's. I bought a pair of LSx motor mount plates though. I originally bought the e34 mounts, but we ended up using the GTO mounts that came with the motor instead.

    I will look into those Toyota boosters. sounds like a good idea.

    All it took to clear the tranny was a couple whacks with a hammer, and like Garret and Steve we trimmed a couple of the usless nipples off of the trans housing.

    I am really interested in your build. There are gonna be several LSx E30's in no time. Are you gonna document your progress?

    the only reason anyone could hate on that is due to lack of skills or money to complete this swap. amazing job. also, i almost threw up at the color the first glance, now im starting to think the e12 i have would look great in it. hmmm ls1 e12 has a nice ring to it.

    ps. i hate you on both accounts. {im just jealous}
