Yeah, it's been a long time coming. And I'm convinced we've got the right car...this is definitely the right platform for what I was looking for. And the example we found is especially clean, but not so perfect that I'll feel bad about stripping it out and building it into a track beast.

Yes, the manual versions all have a dog-leg 1st. There are also automatics, though I have no idea in hell who the f_ck would buy an automatic 16v.

It was a huge disappointment, but neither the 16v nor the back-up car (my old E30) were ready in time. Sucks that I lost all that money, too!

Is there a reason you didn't go with sl/500e brakes? The larger than the 400e/late e320 brakes and still fit under the wheels you are running!!

Btw, I absolutely love this project!! I daily'd a 190e 2.6 Sportline for years! I loved everything about it except for the the knee bolster and rubbing my knuckles on my thighs when turning that huge steering wheel... ;)
