So I gave it the quick once-over today (yesterday it was raining). No CEL, the bulb works. Check panel is fine, nothing's low. From inspecting the rotors, the front brakes are pretty good, rears may be up for replacement. Window motors are strong, sunroof works great (it's synchronized unlike the M50 car despite my efforts) and seals fine, as does the rest of the car. One or two cracks in the dash, none in the windshield.

    Problems:
No turn signal stalk (it was cut off, wtf)
Doesn't lock from the driver's side, trunk doesn't like to lock
    Faulty light switch

But overall not too bad for $240. So far I've got exactly $360 into this car, including sales tax, transfer fees and reg paid until May 2011. We shall see how much more it takes--my guess is I can have a decent, drivable car for around $500 with some shopping around. Not including paint, of course. ;)

Tonight I started taking care of some stuff that needed taking care of.

I tightened the light switch mounting nuts which seemed to take care of that problem as the parking lights haven't come on any more.

I pulled the steering wheel because it had a bite out of it (left) and I had another intact one sitting around (right)

I pulled what was left of the turn signal stalk

Looks like someone wanted to signal very very left

        Pulled the gauge cluster

Either this car is relatively low mileage or there are some broken odometer gears around the corner...

        Damn.

Pulled the odo gears, three of them broken. That's 75 god damn dollars just to ensure routine oil changes. Not sure if this is worth it just yet.

The tach didn't work, so I pulled the SI board and desoldered the batteries. I'm going to make sure no fuses are blown before I order new ones (probably should have done that before I pulled the cluster, oh well).

              lol. Will do dude. :p

Small update, after I pulled the trans from the swap car I walked down the street to check on the little super eta.

While I was looking under the hood these two twatwaffles came up and asked if my car was broken and if they could help. I tried not to laugh too hard.

I wish we could have Jemima's witnesses.

Anyway no fuses appeared to be blown but a few were missing.

16, 21, 27-29 all missing. Looks like that may be the cause of the tach problem (and one of the fogs being out) as well as the locks and interior lights not working. To play it safe, I'm going to order some SI board batteries anyway. But I think I might pass on the odometer gears, at least for now.

Edit: had some fuses in the swap car. Now the interior lights, both fogs and power locks work, but you can't lock the car from the driver's door.

Here's the only real damage to the car

But as I was leaving I noticed the trunk doesn't line up very well, and the gas cap doesn't quite close all the way. Seems like the rest of the body panel gaps are even; hopefully the frame is alright.

You can use old walkman cassette player gears for the odometer.

Because both are from the 80's, they are completely interchangable.

I have a 5 speed laying in my garage, may not be as good as a 6 speed. But I think it would of worked.

I will shortly have a cluster from a superETA if you need one. We're in the process of building a 2.7i so the stock cluster's gotta go. The odo doesn't work but everything else does. I'll have a DME soon too if you need it, as well as a good head. Heh.

Nice. Unfortunately I believe the only thing I need at this point is the odometer gears. :p Thanks though, I'll get back to you if I find something else that went kaputt.
