And today Operation: Put Motor-thing in Car-dealy began in earnest.
Load an' go:
Unload an' sort:
Clean, clean, clean. Beer. Clean more:
It's missing something:
Oh right, That:
Installed, with some added sexiness:
Sexiness Exhibit A (Vorshlag steering shaft) is ready for it's closeup now:
And that's all for now, more tomorrow. Clutch is on, brakes are getting mocked up, pedal box is in, waiting on my headers from the ceramic guy, bending new rear brake lines tomorrow...
So, vote time: install motor and tranny at once or motor, then tranny from underneath? Keep in mind I have a lift and tranny jack...
Cheers,

I vote, Engine and tranny on crossmembers from underneath at once. It's much easier that way, but you've already put the steering rack and suspension bits onto the crossmember.Comment

Yeah, I thought about that but it doesn't work so well with a center post lift...'89 325is S50 Track Montser

Ah hadn't noticed that. We have a single post, fork lift kinda setup. Can just squeeze the back of the gearbox past the forks across the car.Comment

Hmm, I've never had a problem with tranny installation but I guess I usually have no choice because it's coming out for a clutch or whathaveyou so the motor stays. All my helpers have voted engine/tranny together too so in it goes tomorrow AM!'89 325is S50 Track Montser

It's in!
It looks a little more like a car from the inside now too, still a lot of loose ends though:
