Picking up the block from the machine shop in a couple hours. VERY EXCITE. Pictures are imminent.Comment

our cars share so much in common they could be brothers. The only difference is i traded a cracked oil pan for a broken steering rack. Both equally terrible and a bitch to replace. Although i plan on blowing up my motor tunning the turbo and then rebuilding it. I'd hate to destroy a fresh motor. What color are you painting it? I doubt your going red with cardinal interior. Diamond schwartz?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

THE SEAS WERE ROUGH, but the bounty has been rich these past few days. And the island women, OH the island women.
Allow me to splay the treasures of my journey:
Alas! A freshly hot tanked, magnafluxed, honed, and intermediate shaft bearing'd (?) block!

I didn't even know they were painted black from the factory. I'll still be repainting the block - most likely black, but we'll see.
And now the main treasure:
60k mile complete head, rebuilt 10k ago with reseated valves, new eccentrics, welded coolant passages, decked, with a new cam. $200!

Shitty picture that I didn't take.
I now own 2 complete motors. I'll probably sell the old one to help fund the project. If anyone' interested in a good complete head or a complete block that needs to be bored out, let me know. Both have roughly 190k on them.Comment

Meh, those fronts are way rough. I can't justify getting rid of good black leather for shitty cardinal.Comment

Did you have this car at Vintagefest last year?
Damn glad I have a home with a big garage now. Street parking in Chicago is a disaster waiting to happen.
I'll be building my stroker motor in the near future and wondering who did your machine work?
Looking forward to pics of the black interior.Comment

It's time for another one of those updates.
Do you want to REALLY start making progress on your project car? Might I suggest: moving into a new apartment and NOT setting up cable or internet, then having someone steal your iPhone you just got 6 months ago with lots of irreplaceable data on it.
You'll be so productive your friends would ask "what's wrong with you" if they were able to get in touch with you in the first place.
Over the past few days I pulled everything, except that damn fuse box, out of the bay in preparation to start the bay body work.
I started with the passenger side:
Shaved old wiper fluid res. mounting points.
Used a small chisel to pull up most of the seam sealer.
Hit the rest of the seam sealer with a grinder.
Started prepping and smoothing the painted areas.
I'll probably be finishing the passenger side up after work tonight to the point where I can get the first coat of (etch) primer down.

and this is what it used to look like...

INCOMING NEW PARTS:
M42 Radiator - a couple days
M20 Head - couple days
Full Cardinal Interior - couple weeks - (score! ...finally)
Goetze piston ring set - here!

PARTS NOW UP FOR SALE:
M20 Head - roughly 190k on it. Complete. Pulled in running condition and pretty clean. I'll make a FS thread about it later today.
M20 Block - also roughly 190k on it. Tore down. Will need to be bored out since one of the walls has a decent score in it. Perfect for a stroker build.
M20 Crank, Rods, Pistons etc - 190k. 5/6 Pistons are good. One has a hole in it...
Black Leather Sport Interior
I took a lot of good quality pictures and will make FS threads for all these items later today.
Didn't bring it to vintagefest. Check out what I have for sale for engine parts if you need anything for the stroker build. Will have interior pics up soon.Did you have this car at Vintagefest last year?

Liking the build so far, also props to you for being very organized. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us and I'm also interested to see how the red cardinal will look in a red e30. I'll also look out for ur fs thread, I'm picking up a red e30 this weekend and thinking about swapping it from tan to black
