Yup, mine will look something like that ^.

Just not as low, because he cheats ;)

Time for a mini update as well.

    First off...

    :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D

The drivers seat needs a few skins replaced but otherwise the interior on a whole is in great shape. I'm very pleased. I also got the carpet which is in great shape as well.

The cylinder head FINALLY came in, after a long battle with the shitty seller. (Don't buy from Bud Brown). It took about a month to get him to ship it along with some hardcore strong arming and legal threats, but it came in and it looks pretty clean. A couple bent studs I'll have to assess.

And a faked wide angle shot for good measure:

We finally cleaned up the area and found proper homes for everything. That ^ is CLEAN compared to what it was. The new cardinal will be stored in the car for more shop space.

I don't cheat. I just like to keep my investment safe and not have to make threads about busting open my oil pan or ripping up my freshly painted fenders becausr I couldn't make it into a steep driveway. Haha..

So what color are you spraying your car? When do you think you will have the bay finished? If you got it stripped down that far. It might be a better idea to strip it all to bare metal so you don't have to feather out all the edges around the seams..

As for color, I change my mind weekly. I won't know for sure until I do it, but I've had a few colors floating around in my head.

I'm waiting on a fabricator to come out and give me a hand welding up the tower. Then bay prep will commence.

Have you (or anyone else) had any luck with aircraft stripper? I'd like to get the bay down to bare metal and that stuff seems like the tool to do it, but I've never used it.

Tal strip and a pressure washer is where its at. Brush it on and pressure was it off. Tape up anything and everything that you don't want the stripper on. Do not get that skit on your skin. Double up on gloves and do work..

I don't have a pressure washer and even if I did, pressure washing it in my small garage is a no go.

I can probably just take the wire brush attachment to it. Good to hear that it works though, I wasn't all about taking it down to metal by hand.

Why did you want a head with welded coolant channels?

                Yea, its a noob question

                Cardinal interior is so cool:hitler:

It gives you more surface area for the gasket to seal to. Having larger coolant channels means less surface area sealing in the pressure.

                        Boring, non visually stimulating update:
Just ordered a 32oz. Leatherique kit (Pristine Clean and Rejuvenating Oil) to hit the Cardinal with. I'm hoping it softens it up quite a bit. The rear bench is a bit dingy too so I'm hoping this will bring it back to life.

                        Questions:

Has anyone attempted to dye tan pieces to Cardinal with successful matching?

How would I go about redyeing the parcel tray since it's a fabric...ish...material?

Also, the bottom end will (hopefully) be going back together tomorrow so I'll try to get some pics up of the process.

                            Update: Block Rebuild

I'll just let the pictures and video tell the story:

                            60k mile pistons:

Soaked them in WD40 for a week then hit them with a ton of brake clean, plastic brushes and some good old elbow grease:

                            Fresh Goetze rings:

New main bearings about to go in:

                            Crank getting set:

                            Complete:

All in all: 60k mile block, hot tanked, magnafluxed, new intermediate shaft bearing, new rings, new main and rod bearings.

                            Joe doing work:
