So, my Dad used to restore cars when he was around my age, but, you know, things like Model A/Ts. He always likes to drive me crazy by suggesting I chrome EVERYTHING on the car; he's not serious about it, he just knows it aggravates me. I finally took his suggestion, and spray-chromed a StormTrooper helmet on the RaceSkids skidplate.

It was also inspired by a painter friend, who did this recently:

    :D

I'll stop spamming the thread, and will post a worthwhile update some time next week.

He lives way out in Iowa, and I wouldn't want to waste his time, effort, or energy on something that is purposely going to get scratched to shit. :D

It really needs the center caps, just because the car is so perfect it would look mint with them.

I have some on the way, actually. :D But I have plans for something a little more aggressive once the funds come.

                Thanks!

Sub-fucking-scribed... Damn.... I have the Koni kit too, more aggressive springs though. I'm interested in the rack.... Have you looked into turbo at all? Track in your future or just street?

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

Street, no track use until I have a good job, probably. I read what I can on the turbo setups, but it's still confusing to me. Working on the car today was actually the first time I've done ANYTHING. I still haven't even changed my own oil. :???: That's up in the next day or two. :)

The rack wasn't bad at all, and it was, without a doubt, the BEST thing I have done to the car. It needed some spacers to make it fit properly in the mount, and we had to clearance the firewall some, but it was pretty damn basic other than that. It's such a difference for me; I had to go full-lock to get into my driveway before, which was a pain in the ass. I can do it one-handed with less than a full turn now, it's something EVERY E30 needs.

With the new rack, front control arms, tie rods, and control arm bushings, it's a new car. It feels so tight, so responsive, and so precise, it's amazing. I could not believe it.

You are fucking doing it right. I wanted an E30 as a first car, instead I got a noodle framed japanese glorified family hauler. I totalled THAT one and went straight to the E30. Enjoy the MT2 wheel douchebag. :p

I've procrastinated updating here, so here's some shit.

Getting shit out of the trunk before we raise it on the lift.

Said shit. Think this was halfway through the day, so some things are missing.

                              Nasty old rack.

used a Tranny jack with a drainpan to get the PS fluid out. I was taking pictures, that's a friend helping me. :D

Nice new Z3 2.7LTL rack! :drink:

                              Finished Rear end

                              Gratuitous Koni/GC adjuster shot.

After lowering the car down, I realized it had a decent amount of negative camber -- which looks neat, but wasn't very good on tires.

I bought a rear subframe with welded-on Toe/Camber adjustments from the for-sale section of the forums, and also bought some Powerflex RTAB/Subframe bushings. Went down the next weekend and installed all of that shit. Rear subframe was no fun at all.

Here's a picture of the car after all that was done:

Then a few days later, I ordered some wheels and tires, here's what the car currently looks like:

XXR 521 +20 with Kumho Ecsta XS 215/45r-16. I'm generally not a fan of gloss black wheels, but I don't mind it so much in person. I think I might try and find a 5mm rear spacer, it sits a bit far in, but before I do that I need to go get the rear fenders rolled, as they are already rubbing a tiny bit.

I know I need to fix the front bumper. It got whacked by something. I also plan on lowering the front some more to take out the rest of the fender gap.:)
