Not sure how I feel about the current wheels Chris. They seem too "futuristic" for the E30 M3.

I prefer the 3pc wheels on it, but those other ACS rims are better than bottlecaps.

When the car is painted techno and these are satin white it'll look much better, trust me.

I like the Type 2s bestter for a few reasons:

        1. They're direct fit and pretty flush. The Type 1s require an 8mm spacer up front to clear the calipers, so I have to run a pulled/strech tire up front. The rears poke like crazy being 17x9 et6, so I have to stretch even more.
        2. They're a nice subtle staggered: 17x8.5 et13 front, 17x9.5 et22 rear
        3. They're lighter then the Type 1s
        4. I can run a 245/40 front, 255/40 rear with out rubbing!
        5. Concave > dish any day of the week

Plus I like making the e30 look newer, with more modern style wheels, but that's just me.

Don't worry I still have the ACS type 1, along with 5 other gangster sets of wheels. :p

The Type 1s are chrome, which I hate, they will be chemically stripped, and refinished properly.

Installed the 4" Miller MAF kit Friday and what a difference!
Car pulls so much nicer throughout the power-band, especially bottom end! The instant throttle response is awesome! :D

I also found a really cool enthusiast that will be buying my s14 drive-train soon, and we'll be doing the full swap at the shop into his '73 2002!!! :pimp::pimp::pimp:

This car is a monster already with the s14 and MAF kit in it. I can't imagine how much harder this car will pull with an s54 in it!

Am I to understand that you just had the s14 rebuilt - and now you're putting an s54 in there without skipping a beat?

It does pull really hard for an s14! The MAF kit made a night & day difference for the motor throughout the power band, but especially down low!

The s54 will be just a tad bit faster...

Ya, I'll keep the motor in for summer so i can enjoy the car for a couple months, then it will go out for the customer's project.

I have a lot of respect for the s14, but I want more power after having my s52 swap. The s52 wasn't enough, but the s54 will give me the top-end power the s52 lacked. :nice:

Looks good Chris. Type 3 wheels would look sick. But I like the fitment on the wheels now.

Beautiful build so far! Can't wait to see the future progress. Hopefully you do more of a writeup on the s54 then what others have posted :)

$91.34 shipped! These have to be the best bang for your buck mod PERIOD! 20+ whp without a tune!!! :woowoo:
I've installed and dyno'd about 7 different variety of headers for the e46 s54 and the most I've seen out of the ebay headers have been 10+/-. SuperSprint stepped I've seen gains of around 20rwhp. ;) A ways in advance but a trick to get them to line up proper is by using cardboard paper and pushing them inbetween one another to get them to lign up before they're installed. Then leave it as is, with the cardboard until they're all bolted up. Never needed to massage them with my technique.
