Oh gosh it's actually fast. I took it to a pretty wide open road and got it above 40, finally. The M90 still has some pep to it. The car, on the other hand, feels scary at speed, not like the e30 at all. It makes spaceship whooshing noises above 70, and has very strong but hilariously squirrely brakes with no ABS.

I had to remind myself that I didn't have ABS...Slicktop City!Comment

Evening update!
Changed out air filter and both intake boots to new ones.
Fixed the dome light door triggers - they needed some contact cleaning. Found out that the trunk one is broken and I need a new one. While tooting around in the trunk, found these in the trunk lid. Any idea what they are?
This is what I'll be dealing with tomorrow. Two old alarm and stereo installs. Fun.
Any idea what this is? It's a reservoir of some sort with three hoses coming out, above the fuel filler neck in the trunk.
Current interior. Clean, crack-free dash. Not-so-clean floor. Weird shifter, which also spins around, which is unhelpful.
Straightened out the tailpipes with some yankin'.
Tomorrow is passenger door and electronics cleanup. The leak is somewhere in the driver's footwell, so it's nasty under there. If I have time and figure out how to pull the rear part of the interior, will also be wire-wheeling the floors and primering the rust spots (and other spots).Last edited by kronus; 01-21-2011, 11:43 PM.Comment

A clever man would have looked at the huge mess of electronics in the car, concluded that it worked just fine (it did), and left it alone. I am not a clever man.
As a result, I now have 3 lb less wires/alarm boxes, and the car no longer starts.
Could really use that ETK I don't have and can't find anywhere right about now. The ACC/ON positions works fine, fans work, windows work, cluster works, but the START position does not signal the starter.
On the positive side, I'm heading out to go pick up a set of 17x8.5 Rondell 58s.Last edited by kronus; 01-22-2011, 04:24 PM.Comment

^^ which front valence? I obviously have the US one, and want a euro one with foglight holes. However, it is lower priority than fixing the car to work correctly.
I am ok on the other bits, though. Heater works, oilpan is intact, coil is the same as on later M30-powered cars (and M20s).

ALL of the 6er ETKs are online.
... and this page is FULL of useful/and not so useful Links.
edit: Those circles on your trunklid look oddly like the remains of stud welding, but I can't be sure.
That tank with the hoses above your filler is some kinda vapor canister for your fuel system.Last edited by ldsbeaker; 01-23-2011, 01:18 PM.Slicktop City!Comment
