^ I think my sideloader is an LSD. have to double-check, though. The trans is 5spd and close-ratio, also. -
keep the M90. euro M90's are 10.5:1 compression. really stout motor. and dogleg to boot!! most euro's were slicktops also. btw nice find on the euro. im beginning to love my 6 more and more. every time i fix something, it makes me happier. i still have a soft spot for the e30's though. have you found out if your side-loader is an lsd? those things are so rare.Leave a comment:

Thanks, and you're completely right, the morale boost was wonderful.
Car's at a shop now, getting coolant, oil, and a general suspension inspection. (mainly, I didn't feel like messing with fluids after doing an e30 headgasket on Saturday/Sunday)
I got the front windows to work again by cleaning out the switches - they're a much better design than the e30 ones! Come apart easier, less fiddly bits inside. However, the back windows still do not work. Anyone have a ETK for early E24s handy?Leave a comment:

Very cool car. I'm glad plug wires got you some good progress to keep morale up. I vote to keep em both.Leave a comment:

Wierd question, do you wear adidas samba shoes? Looks like a really cool car. I would love to have a euro bmw one day.Leave a comment:

That floor could be a gamebreaker for you? Damn, I want your lifeLeave a comment:

The floor isn't that bad. It sounds like you have a lot of intake leaks.Leave a comment:

I'm keeping it as original as possible, OEM+. The coilover plans are just because it's impossible to find aftermarket suspension for E12-based E24s. Not going supar-stiff-racing-man, just low and firm like a proper car.
More photo dump!
I joined a Lemons team, Team Jaywatch. This is Cheezy, our chariot, in the process of a headgasket replacement. My car looms in the background.

This is Cheezy after the gasket R&R and re-bolt-everything-back-together. Only 3 extra nuts/bolts!

E24 gettin' some gas.

German German German. The novelty wears off.

Got polite-company taillights. I'm thinking I want to black out the area between them with some flat black paint and pull the bumper back to the correct position (it had a minor ding before my relationship with the car began)

seems like a fairly uncommon car at this point, i'd do my best to keep it original if it were mine.Leave a comment:

Well, what do you know. Changed out the spark plug wires and it runs 100% better, even has some power.
Also, took out the old taillights and put in a set that hasn't been smoked by a monkey. Looks much better. Photos tomorrow.
Next items in the project:
- Swap out smashed door with good one. Look into paint for it.
- Pull rear seats. There is some moisture behind them, it seems.
- fix all the windows
- fix leak, wherever the hell it is
- order Dynamat, cover the trans tunnel and footwells. Reinstall carpet.
- Engine maintenance: coolant, oil, distributor, spark plugs, AFM boot, air filter, oil filter. Radiator shroud.
- Short-shifter, bushings for the shifter carrier and mounts, cause holy crap.
Eventually:
- Suspension (custom coils, probably)
- Wheels/tires (looking at staggered setups or Style 32s)
- E30 Sport seats up front. Dye rear seats black.Leave a comment:
