Well, before I swap the 88 m20 into the 87, i plugged the rear brakes, and took it for a spin. (no tags, registration, inspection, or insurance 8-))

Most of everything dissembled. Motor is coming out tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
What are peoples preferred method of disconnecting the clutch when pulling the motor and tranny out as one?

Remove the slave cylinder from the tranny and disconnect both the shift selector rod and shift carrier from the transmission.

All that stuff will hang back. Its much easier to remove that stuff after the fact.

Why are you swapping motors? Assuming those are both 325i's then the motors are identical aside from the waterpumps. Put the late 173 ECU into the early car for improved engine management.

Ok thanks, my 88 325is m20 only has 40k miles on it, 272 Schrick cam, and some other goodies. That motor will go into the 87is.

                          Quick vid before pulling motor:

Got this, life is better. Before, I was using a kitchen counter with cabinets that I threw some wheels on.
