Awesome. Too bad you didnt start with a regular scout II, they have a 100 inch WB . I have '62 scout 80 that needs some attention. That motor is a BOAT ANCHOR, no ? Heaviest smallblock ever.
Yea, not so much a hillbilly. Just want a E30 capable of towing another E30. And also capable of doing it uphill in the snow.
So a few update pics. Ive been sick all week so i didnt do a whole lot today. These posts will be more interactive. I need some opinons p-shop work.
oh, i do realize the pic quality is crappy. Its just easier to snap pics with my galaxy and upload them straight to photobucket.
well after agonizing about cutting the frame i ended up busting out the sawzall. I was going to come up with some superdooper plan for steering, but i caved and went with the ole sloppy box. aka steering box. Its one of the only things that will take offroad punishment. And afterall, it was designed with it. Ive learned to fight important battles and let the rest go by the wayside.... Yes i know there are other options, that are expensive.
I cut as little as i had to. It ended up not looking too bad. Japandrew has nothing on me. I notched the MFin frame!! I plan on making a "flap" made of a thick epdm rubber similar to a mudflap. Ill attach it via bolts.
That should keep mud and rain water from directly hitting the underside of the catruck lol. I need a name for it!!!
ok, so the steering is somewhat handled. I still have to do away with the ancient 70s ragjoint and install some steering u-joints with slip joints. Ill do that tomm.
So heres the part where i need input. Just remember im the guy with a e36 dash in my e30 with Mcoupe rear exhaust. So i dont mind a little flavor.
But i do want the front to look as stock as possible. All while taking a little bit of brush if need be. I know the valance will bend like tissue paper. So im trying to take a aesthetic view at this while being functual.
I have access to some 1/4 inch bumpers that i will later take pics of. So i can make a ARB looking bumper while making it look like a stock valance. Including stock fogs and textured coating.

obviously minus a few light and things that make it look too busy. I dont want a redneck looking bar around the headlight and bumper. bleh! Yes the valance is bent. Couldnt bring myself to cut up a nice straight one.
More pics to come tomm. Ill be airbagging my E30 trailer so i can tow it with both 4x4 and coilovered S52. And my old vert(90 325i, not the Euro lol) gets the AX. Turning it into a trailer.
