At least it is better than overheating. My S52 likes to run warm. :( Needless to say, I carry a temp gun with me on the daily. -
yeah I was actually worried about it never coming out of closed loop but the car runs perfect pulls strong as hell. When I'm at dead stop it will get hot enough to kick the fan on. Other than that the fan hardly comes on. Everything is brand new on it, including the thermostat and pump.
Time for the temp gun as you guys say.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I would grab a temp gun and check things out. It looks like you are running too cool. Maybe the Thermostat is stuck open.Leave a comment:

Your car runs quite cool! Mine stays at a smidge past the middle mark.
I'm running:
40mm PWR aluminum radiator
Stewart water pump
75 degree T-stat
16" SPAL pusher fan that clicks on via the lower temp (91 degree) fan switch
I wonder why yours runs so much cooler...Leave a comment:

lol yeah I am a 2nd and had planned on naming one of my sons after me, but I ended up with 2 sets of identical twins. Didn't want to name one after me and not the other.
Thanks BTW!Leave a comment:

holy crap, not only have you done to your car EXACTLY what I have wanted to do to mine for years, but you have the same name as me too.... Must be an omen....
But seriously. I have always wanted ultimately to do this EXACT setup: 5-lug, black E38 style 5s, S52 OBD1, coils, either red or white paint. (or both)Leave a comment:

Sorry just seeing this. I put new clutches in the diff. Next time I will be adding at least 1 clutch if not 2 and also going up to the 2.1mm plates. Going to leave the ramp alone but may change my mind and have it machined as well. Sort of like Metric Mechanics does theres.
3.46S with a 260
It never gets above this withthe mishimoto, lower stat, and all new cooling components. Cell phone pics at 80, not so good lol
Cleaned the bay back up last night and drove it home, Did perfect with no leaks
BTW I had an oil leak that came out of the top of the oil filter because one of the washers got caught on the lip and didn't seal properly. Oil ran down and got into the belt and got lung fucking everywhere. Scary as shit seeing black smoke come from under the hood and when you pop the hood you see oil eveywhere. Glad it was something easy as I replaced everything on the block almost and there shouldn't be any leaks.
Now to get the wiring covered and some other misc shit done.Last edited by samiam3356; 02-19-2012, 03:08 PM.Leave a comment:

Picked up the new block today after the machine shop looked it over good to make sure I'm not waisting money on it. Not sure of the final objective but stock it won't be.Last edited by samiam3356; 02-19-2012, 03:00 PM.Leave a comment:

The side pieces are new and the rear will be as well soon enough. Interior will be going black as well as the rock guard paint will be coming off and the rockers will be getting a fresh coat as well.
The cat came from Summit Racing for 109 BTW.Leave a comment:

Paint your rear bumper trim pieces all the same shade of black please! Sounds almost like my car. Good job!Leave a comment:
