Nicks m50 swap and restoration project

hey r3v, got a hold of an 86 325es on craigslist for dirt cheap.. yeah there are a few things wrong with it but nothing that aint fixable! The reason why he sold it so cheap is because of a no start. The flywheel pin broke off causing it not to run. It broke from the release bearing failing causing one of the tabs to break off and hit the pin on the flywheel. The sensors for the flywheel tested good.
    On to the pics!!

    have to find a spoiler!

SO next is dropping the tranny, putting a new flywheel and other crap in there, shift linkage shit, wires and plugs, yall know the normal stuff! haha

Man, if that same deal fell in my hands I would swap to Motronic 1.3, screw those flywheel sensors. An engine harness and an ECU should be pretty much everything you need.

        Closing SOON!

            Well, no, actually.

Injectors, AFM, something else I can't remember, but it is all cheap and easy bolt on shit, then find a set of SETA pistons and an 885 head later.

You will want a different tach too, and you will break your cam if you try and rev too high, but it won't anyway as your intake is basically incapable.

            Closing SOON!

Toothed crank wheel on front of motor, that was the other thing I forgot.

Go look up a motor on realOEM for an 87 325is, you will see the differences.

I bet there are guys out there that would sell yo all the shit for $150 shipped, errybuddy is broke right now

                    Link is broken.

Luke, he will need the i valve springs, the engine will over rev and float the valves if just the ecu and harness is swapped.

Best way to go about it is to take the entire top end off an is, the engine harness, the crank trigger wheel, all the sensors, the ecu, don;t forget the vacuum hoses.

I did the swap and my car gained quite a few ponies, proven on the dyno. Went from 120 crank hp and 170 crank tq to 134whp/145wtq using the stock eta 2.7 bottom end...

Click the link in my sig to take a virtual ride in my eta with it's long 2.93 gears :)

In the meantime, read strictlyeta.net. he outlines the swap for an early model pretty well.
