I hate to say this (and I'm surprised no one else mentioned it) coolant attacks the bearings in the bottom end. Your milkshake oil proves that there was a lot of coolant in the oil. You might want to throw some new bearings in the bottom end. Besides, the motor has a lot of miles on it to begin with, they are likely due.
Just a thought,

i'm just gonna leave the bottom end be.
pick up another m20b27 bottom end and an 885 head from an m20b25, also an engine stand.
rebuild that one the right way, this is just a simple patch fix, i just hope it lasts a year.

Look at it this way, I think it can be done in car. It would suck to do all this work and spin a bearing a week later. My guess is they aren't that expensive, and to do it, you just need to get the oil pan off (which you need to do any way to get the sludge out before you reassemble it) and drop each bearing cap one at a time the bottoms pop right out of the cap, and the top half can be slipped out and a new one re-installed. My guess is its only another $100 or so for a new set. All you need to do is pull a single rod and main cap off to see what sized bearings they are. My guess is that they are standard, but you never know.
Trust me, I know all about having my toys sitting out for months because they are broken. Heck, I didn't get to drive my track car all of 2010 because some A-hole dumped timing chain pieces into my engine (I don't know who, when or why, but they didn't come from my engine) I ended up doing a $5000 refresh on the thing and it didn't even need it. At least I found the pieces and they didn't do any damage to the motor.
My guess is that its 3 hrs more work, some good experience, and a little insurance that you won't have more/bigger problems down the road. It just a thought, and yes, it sucks when your car becomes the place where things get piled because its convenient.
I know too well about fixing something only to have it break a month later. The first time I rebuilt the motor on the track car, the day I got it fully broken in, I broke 5th gear in the transmission, the following day the water pump started leaking (not seriously, but enough to make a big mess) and the day after that I broke an axle leaving a stoplight. It took me another 9 months to come up with the $ to fix any of it.

Just remember there has been contaminated oil sitting on old bearing surfaces for how many months? Its your car, do what you will with it, but if you spin a bearing, you'll be worse off than you are now.
just my $0.02
