sooooo i drove to bimmerfest, after getting home my car was running fine and dandy, went to go to work the next morning and the car just cranks and cranks, no hope of turning over. i replaced my cold start valve because the used one i put in recently was giving me trouble, and upon replacing it there was no fuel up to the cold start valve.
so im thinking my fuel pump(s) are bad, i know my external one was giving me a lot of noise in the past and recently its been quiet, so im thinking it failed and my in tank pump has been over worked and failed.
im really hoping its not just my relay, which i highly doubt.
but any advice as to what my issue is would be much appreciated, but so far here are my plans:
replacing my fuel pump (in tank) and i came up with this airtex model. i have no idea if its a decent part or not but its like $85, comes with seals, hardware and fuel strainer.... kinda hard to go buy an oem style bosch in tank pump for like 3x the price.
anyone have input?
as for the external in line high pressure pump ill go with the bosch 69418 oem pump, i figured with the high pressure pump its probably a better idea to go OEM.
as for filter im planning on going either bosch or mahle (oem) or bosch.
i need some advice before i blow a lot of money, also considering picking up a relay just to check if i actually need to replace the pumps.....Comment

I just deleted the dampening units and then replaced my external pump with a TRE performance pump and the in-tank with a Deatschwerks 65c.Comment

Okie.
A lot of people are telling me to just go single pump oem. Not sure how challenging that is.Comment

Mine was my inline fuel pump. The check valve in it was bad. I just grabbed another unit at the junk yard because I wasn't looking to spend $200. It was pretty new looking and it's been working like a champ.Comment

Completely forgot I posted on your thread but the dampening units are in-line with the lines coming into the external pump to slow the fuel down or something. They're pointless IMO, just another point of potential failure.
The TRE Performance external pump I used was a universal in-line pump that I bought for $75 and is much better than any parts store replacement you can find. I HIGHLY recommend picking one up, very great quality pump considering the price.Comment
