Another slow day at work today so I experimented with my window trim.. Everyone paints their's black, which may still be the best option but I was looking at a Cayenne GTS and noticed it had brushed aluminum trim. This got me thinking, so I sprayed my trim Audi aluminum silver and "brushed" the base with a scotch brite pad to get the brushed alum look. This picture makes it look coarse, when it really life it's actually perfectly smooth. I test fitted it on the car but couldn't tell if it looked good or not with just that section painted so I'm going to do the C-pillar trim tomorrow. This picture is without clear, I'm going to throw some clear (probably flat) on both pieces tomorrow and see what it looks like

Sprayed a little more today, just a door jam but it came out really well. I tried the clear that I bought to spray the car on this, as opposed to the shop's clear that I used on the wheels (cheap production clear) and I really like the look of it. I can't wait to get the thing painted

Thanks, finally pulled it out of the garage and took it up to work this weekend. It won't be back home until it's finished. More updates coming soon!

Ride height looks good, is it static or do you have it cranked down on the trailer?I assume you're going to respray it Cirrus? Wheels are one of the best looking wheels on an E34, IMO. I'd trade my semi rare Racing Dynamics for a set of them and sport them tough, Lol! How is the ride with the CO setup? Still working out spring rates? I'll be curious to what you end up running, once it's finalized. I know, I know... lots of questions, but it looks good out in the sunlight!:)

That's how it sits, I don't have any straps on it in that picture. As far as the spring rates go, having driven my last e34 with shit shocks and similar rates, I know the front will be pretty good. I am worried about the ride in the rear, might be a little bouncy but I haven't driven it yet so I can't say. And yes, I'll definitely be repainting it cirrus, I might switch to the darker variant though.

I love the schnitzers, won't be letting them go anytime soon. Only change I'll make is going staggered in the rear

I've been tossing around the idea of picking up an e34 daily, not in response to the recent rise in e34 threads on r3v haha, but I love the way yours looks wheels are spot on.

Well, finally got to start on the bodywork after a busy couple of weeks. Turns out I'm going to have to do a lot more work that I first anticipated. Apparently the car, at least on the left side, has been painted ~3 times before.. poorly painted as well, looks like 3 scuff n shoots. So instead of painting over who knows what I've decided to strip it down to the lower layers which means sanding the whole car with 180 on a DA, blocking, priming, blocking, priming, blocking, etc... It's going to be a lot more work but it's going to be slick!

Here is a picture of the door as I was working on it today, you can see all the coats on the ding thats sanded down on the front fender.. Check out the rear quarter too, some shoddy bodywork back there as well. Luckily the right side is really clean

Today was a bitch.. I've been basically sanding down the car one panel per day because I've been busy with work/school/etc.. Today was the hood, I figured I'd strip it chemically and it would be a piece of cake... wrong. It took 5 applications and hours of scraping to even see spots of metal. This is the 3rd application-

At that point I was out of aircraft stripper so I finished it with 80 grit on the bondo hog. Just getting the hood to bare metal took about half a day.

It had a few dents that I wiped with bondo/glaze before going home, hopefully I'll finish sanding and prime it tomorrow.. Then onto the right side of the car, which thankfully still has the original paint
