"I don't like a lot of cars on here. Instead of being a cock about it I mostly keep my mouth shut or just shake my head. Sorry, a moderator should do the same if it's all business up at r3v now. Voicing an opinion and being a snobby fag are two different things. Claiming defense that everyone's vag hunting because they have something positive to say while simultaneously claiming it's just YOUR opinion and you're "helping" with it are fucking stupid. Stooopid. "

Just sayin'.
Let it go. That would be helpful to her thread, just let it go.
Since then, I've much opened my eyes and realized that everyone does not stick to the tried and true method of a OEM+ e30. While my car is not extravagant or "eye catching" as some, I always like to add my own individual flair to it.
While you may think it looks like shit, not everyone is in the same mindset as you. I personally like the way it offsets the white and it has nothing to do with leghumping, her being a girl, etc. I respect dedication and work put into something you love.
While you are absolutely entitled to your own opinion, as we all are, to say your opinion is helpful is absolutely arrogant. It is YOUR opinion. The fact that we are able to create what we like with a blank canvas is what keeps us unique. We also "mostly" know what is pure shit on these cars. This for one is not one of them, and will never be seen unless the car is on display with the hood popped at a show.
Jay, keep up the good work and you are an inspiration to me, as it has finally come time for my 318is to donate it's heart to a respectable e21 or 2002 in the near future. I've decided once I rip that out, it is getting rebuilt to a 2.1L stroker with possible FI that will go to a chassis of my choosing. As the saying goes, the best thing an e36 can ever do, is donate it's heart to an e30...I feel the same way about the m42 into above mentioned cars.

Your pics on the railroad track are still some of my most favorite.

I'll be the first to say it looks like shit. What's next, the wheel wells pink? The inside of the trunk painted a different color too? Are you going to paint the wheels blue too? Looks ghey as hell but whatever floats your boat.

Other than that very nice work, not sure about the color tho.
Originally posted by ck_taft325is View PostSomeone could say you're being overly harsh on her, also. From a Moderator it's a bit much in my opinion. That said, the style isn't much for me but then again, 80% of the cars people go ape shit over on this forum lately haven't been "my style". I guess that's the clincher, huh? "My" before the style part. Same can be said for your overly aggressive opinion.
Good luck with the build. You're putting in some serious hours! It's refreshing to see.

It's like there's some self-appointed Style Police who think it's their duty to ride in and dog on other people's work. There really is more to life than MTech & BBS (although I like, & aspire to, both those things). In the end, if Jay likes it, then Kool & the Gang. Same as anyone else's mods to their own car. This shit makes we want to go get big flower stickers and put them in my engine bay, just to watch people get all apoplectic.
I understand that when you post a thread with pics & info about your car, you are inviting comments & criticism; it's just the tone of the criticisms that leave me scratching my head.

Originally posted by Wh33lhop View PostNo, but we would be doing you a disservice if we all told you it looks "awesome" and "unique" like a bunch of testosterone-fueled sheep, and you didn't figure out it looked like shit until you put the motor back in and it was no longer easy to reverse.
This is a problem you will be facing for most of your younger years--attraction-fueled validation. You should thank the people who are honest with you. In my opinion, turquoise looks horrible and doesn't belong on any car any more than hot pink. There are better, more subtle ways of making your car unique.
Got any "after" pics of the bay? Did you mask anything off?

...I still think it looks horrible.

I don't HATE the OPs car or her for that matter. It just looks stupid. It is her car to paint up all stupid if she chooses, but it's no less stupid.
Haters gonna hate, stupid people gonna be stupid and assholes like me are gonna be assholes. Welcome to society eh?:drink:

OK...she has help with the car. Did everyone on here who's done a swap do it with NO HELP? She made sure that she gave credit to everyone that was helping her.
OK...she painted HER car's ENGINE BAY a non-traditional color. Not any of your cars, and I'm pretty sure that mosty she'll drive around with her hood closed.
I'm amazed at how few people have posted actual useful information on this thread... but THANK GOD we know that R3V doesn't like the color blue.
All this drama...ah, R3V :dot:

It looks bad, like a stereotypically assumed Tiffany & Co. lover would do to mod their car. The car is gonna need a cheap eBay blue craptastic BuddyClub bodykit to really flex the muscle.

the blue looks like crap imo! It was done with a rattle can, and will peel off within a year, or the first time you spill something on it.
and yes, I have correctly resprayed a few engine compartments, just not in swimming pool paint.
keep up the work, its your car not everyone will like it all.

I recognize that car (fiftytakedowns) Really clean, great starting point. but yea sorry, you fucked the dog on that blue engine bay.. Hey, you could always re-do it.. And when you do, use two part auto paint with hardener. Like keedler said, theres too much traffic in there, it wont last with just cheap rattle can stuff.-Jay

Not sure on the bay color, but it is better than being dirty. Good job cleaning the bay, seems women can clean a kitchen and an engine bay...who knew?
You are now driving a BMW, so please leave that ricer ignorance to the Honda kids. They are called Wheels and better known and BBS RS ;)
