Depends...my front acs apron was rattle canned, but it was prepped right and cleared with a high grade clear. It's held up better than many parts friends have had painted by pro shops. Two years later and little to no chips whatsoever.

Someone could say you're being overly harsh on her, also. From a Moderator it's a bit much in my opinion. This. While I'm not planning to run out and paint my engine bay seafoom green or anything, I do find it fascinating what things are and aren't 'allowed' on E30s. It's like there's some self-appointed Style Police who think it's their duty to ride in and dog on other people's work. There really is more to life than MTech & BBS (although I like, & aspire to, both those things). In the end, if Jay likes it, then Kool & the Gang. Same as anyone else's mods to their own car. This shit makes we want to go get big flower stickers and put them in my engine bay, just to watch people get all apoplectic.

I understand that when you post a thread with pics & info about your car, you are inviting comments & criticism; it's just the tone of the criticisms that leave me scratching my head.

No, but we would be doing you a disservice if we all told you it looks "awesome" and "unique" like a bunch of testosterone-fueled sheep, and you didn't figure out it looked like shit until you put the motor back in and it was no longer easy to reverse.

This is a problem you will be facing for most of your younger years--attraction-fueled validation. You should thank the people who are honest with you. In my opinion, turquoise looks horrible and doesn't belong on any car any more than hot pink. There are better, more subtle ways of making your car unique.
