Just skip all the B.S. Below because this swap took a u-turn a few months back and I will essentially be installing a complete and very clean M50 from a 95is that had 109K on the clock. The engine is so clean you could eat off it. I got a trans brace and just bought an e21 brake booster. Now I just need to freshen up the engine on the M50 (rear main seal, pilot bearing, etc, and install the oil pan.) I will also be installing a steering rack from a 95is too.
ALL POSTS UP TO #18 ARE WORTHLESS SO JUST SKIP AHEAD TO THERE
Actually I lied, I'll begin this weekend because I am out of town but I did purchase a used m50 with a blown headgasket and all accesories including dme for $120. Once home from my vaca, i will begin removing all tHe accesories and remove the head to inspect the deck for warp. If it is warped I'll either kill the swap or if the price is right clean up the warp and move forward. I have no idea how many miles are on the clock or anything else really but for a hundy how could I pass it up.
Fortuantly for me I have kingston near by and he is already elbow deep into his swap so I can glean some info from him as I proceed. I have a guy about 20mi away parting an e34 and will sell me the oil pan and stuff needed for swap for 70 buck so all in all I will have less than $200 into a complete motor swap. I will need to spend cash on parts like the gaskets, seals and such but I don't plan on putting this motor in until it is completely ready since my m20 is rock and roll. As for pics I will post once I return from vacation. Any educated opinions are welcome.
