I had him level out the head to make it nice and even. Does it need to be smooth? I know old timers like to have a swirled surface. What type of surface is best for MLS gaskets? The block is not tore down so can I just use a power hand tool sander?

I was just going to use a pad sander that we use at the shop for surfacing heads and blocks. I did not know what should be used for a metal gasket. I watched that video set from HPF of them building a s54. They mentioned a smooth surface apposed to the old time swirl.

The surface has to be very smooth, there is a certain ra finish. Give me few and I'll find the info.

That is what I was figuring since the metal gasket is not a cork composite. Thanks for lending some helpful tips =)

So a polished finish on both the block and head. That can be done no problem.

Well I don't have any update pics because the camera I had to take pics with got ran over at work...lol

But here is a nice milestone over come, M50 head completely rebuilt with S50 cams. And a blunttech/Otis 24v turbo mani. Some might not have believed me that this will not come to be. So think again!

I know the pic sucks balls and I am sorry for that, but I needed to bump this to get my ass in gear. I got over worked from two jobs and three car builds at once and just stopped for about a month now. So I bumping this thread to get the spark back in me to trek on!

The current things on my list to get done before snow hits is get smilies hooked up and install my set of euro bumpers!!!! That is right friends, my brother does not want euros and traded me straight up euro for complete plastic/valence with MT2 front apron and 100 cash. So I said hell yeah!

But the plans are to have the m50 engine put back together in the coming months and turbo installed and tuned before the next Gfest!!!!

This is one of the turbos I am looking into:

Any other good ones to look out for? And should I match brands since I am getting a TIAL 44 wastegate?

Looking good. As for which turbo how much boost are you looking to push or rwhp#? Garrett is a good name. If you're looking for high number/boost stay away from GTQ trim turbo's they lag. A good GT35R is good all around for numbers and quick spool up.

I am looking to put down above 400rwhp, and I noticed that the medium snails were said to be the best for 2.5ltr engines. I am going to get a custom management setup from TRM.

I also looked in a Precision 6262SP turbo that had two options for bearings. A difference of about 700.00, no clue what brand is better vs the Garrett.

So one of these would be best for my app:

P.S. I am having a VERY hard time finding them for sale online. And is there a good place that rebuilds them?

And I am going to be using a 2.93LSD too, I hear that taller gears are better for boost so you get more run out in each one? Whatever the case that is my diff.

This turbo is a good match http://www.ebay.com/itm/Garrett-T3-T...sories&vxp=mtr

Blunt is running this turbo on his 2.8 with a 2.93 gear. With your setup and S50 cams 400rwhp will be easy.
