Just finished the b27i conversion, I have run into a problem. Before I did the conversion it would have a little trouble starting up(outboard fuel pump failing). But after a bit of 1/4 throttle it would be fine and only have an issue if I got on it very hard(bucks from fuel starvation).
The work done:
SETA block
885 head with Schrick 288 cam
M50 rebuilt injectors
Now I have to pump the throttle to get it to start.
Is the M50 injectors and 288 cam causing major fuel starvation? I just drove it up the road, pulled like a beast with 3/4 throttle. Then it bucked a few times(normal, from failing pump).
I know the outboard pump needs to be replaced, just don't know if the added performance upgrades are putting even more strain on it to fire up on just cranking alone.
I went on youtube and found some videos of a b27i with a Schrick 288 idling. Sounds 100% the same as what mine does. Has a lope like a v8 that is cam'd. I am 98% sure it is just the fuel pump is done. Long term I know I need a better fuel delivery system for the turbo plans.
I looked into a Walbro 255, but I am not sure on what I have to do since I have a late model with the outboard. I read the DIY thread, but I learn from pictures and I am not sure what I have to do to convert.
Is there a better setup? I am not against removing the stock fuel tank and going to a Pro-street fuel cell:
Not sure what one to buy, or what else I would need. Any advice is welcome, I am sorry if I upset some with my asking. But I learn purely from pictures.
