I would deff. do it, since the motor is on the stand...the ones for the m60 are 50-60 a pop x4. the u one for the 62tu is the most expensive one, i think it was 150ish iirc.
Alright. For the m60, would you replace the chains too, or just the guides? Tensioners?

V8 & 4 door... I fucking love it. I can't wait to see the finished product.

Got the floor pan and interior firewall coated in Rust Encapsulator. Next comes seam sealer and some wax coating for the cowl area where rain water will likely come in through the vents, so it doesn't rot anything. The cowl area is designed very weird, the factory seam sealer channels the water to a drain on the passenger side of the blower motor area. I can't replicate that channel since I can't replicate factory assembly of the entire front of the car, so I can't get the seam sealer like it was from the factory. So, I'm going to just jam seam sealer in there, spray it with the wax coating, and hope for the best. I'm just kinda winging this, I have no clue what the proper methods are... I'm not a body guy.

As I said, it's not pretty. But it's solid and water proof, unlike the huge rust holes that were there previously!

Engine ready for cleaning and re-gasketing. I don't think I'm going to pull the heads off, just because it only has 130k miles. But I'll do a leakdown test before I decide.

It's a little bit bigger then an m20...

Now you're starting to think like me... work on multiple things at the same time, lol! Motor work, body work, interior work all at the same time, haha... looking good man,

Haha, yeah, it's good to multitask but it's easy for things to spiral out of control! My garage is getting pretty cluttered... But it's cluttered with awesome parts, so I don't mind :)

I envy your lift. This is going to be a hell of a project without one! Oh, and your billion square foot garage. That would be nice.

Picked up another hard-to-find piece of the puzzle today. 95 530i 5 speed manual trans. Not only did I find one, but I found one with 99k miles, for $300, 12 miles from my home. And it just so happened it was literally on the way to Garey's (bmwmech1) shop, where I was planning on going today anyway. So I picked that up, along with a manual e34 530i wire harness from Garey. Thanks again!

Things are moving along well. Still need a MAF, clutch/flywheel, and the e34/e32 V8 remote brake booster linkages. And probably a billion other little things. But first I need to finish welding the damn car back together!

^^^^ I touched that transmission earlier and now it's famous, lol! I don't think I'll wash my hand, since it touched it, haha...
Good find man... and at J&D no less... still can't believe that one...

Lol, I'm just so pumped I found one so easily, I'm like a little kid on Christmas.

Btw, I pulled a carfax on the vin on the trans to verify the mileage. Looks like it was salvaged and bought by J&D back in 2007! So they've been sitting on that thing for 4 years...

You should get that receipt framed ! Or maybe bronzed.

Nice meeting you too. Sorry I was rushed and a bit out of it, this constantly changing work schedule is wearing me down!
