Some sort of spacer needed here. Center hole of the strut towers is SMALL, no room to move the adjustments about. Or some other solution? I'm open to suggestions. Cutting the strut tower is my last option, I'd rather not do that. It may lose some stiffness if cut the center hole bigger and lose that "lip".

Other than that, not much happening. Car will be easier to work on once we get it rolling. I do have a scissor lift at the garage :D
To that end, I ordered a pair of rear shocks, short Koni Sports.

I read somewhere that E46 rear mounts are supposed to be stiffer/stronger than E30 OEM ones, so..

I got around to doing a couple of small things on my own car..

Putting on the driver side rocker panel. Only a few welds here and there, rest of it done with panel adhesive.




We had this small mishap a while ago, dropped the chassis of the rotisserie, bending the front frame.

Tack a piece there and start pulling..

As a result of dropping it, front chassis rails (or what are they called?) we're bent inwards by 6mm?


Work in progress.


Bit more fixing and it'll be agood as new..

Thanks. Don't hold your breath waiting to see it finished though. Budget and money being the limiting factors, I set my self couple of goals: To have it more or less ready for paint shop by the end of the year, and to have it running for 2016 season.

Small accident that we had taking the shell out for sandblasting.. Requires some pulling, measuring and beating:

Testing if our tools are up to making flares to 8mm fuel pipes. No fancy AN-connectors here:

Last of sandblasting stuff, done! I wipe blasted spots with this:

-which is a phosphoric acid. It's protects bare metal from rust til I paint it, and the acid reacts with small rust residue that remains in metal pores. Just before primer I wire brush it off.

Saving huge amounts of weight by replacing hand brake pipes with aluminium items :)

Made a windscreen washer system.. I'm going to make the hood detachable so I can't run hoses & spray jets there.. Whole system weighs 0,5kg everything incluced.


-That bent pipe is a support that goes from A-pillar through firewall corner to the shock tower bottom.

Wheel with max camber, fully compressed. I needed to see what the "worst case scenario" is so the support pipes don't interfere with the tires.

Slow progress..
Bought a transmisssion support for the box, M3 item. Sport Getrag has it's mounting points differently than regular boxes.. I'll have to fabricate bushes also. Stock M3 parts are too soft. Aftermarket items don't look convincing.


Mounting points for steering support done. That bar is from an E30 touring.


Test fitting dashboard to se that it fits with the support:


Sill/floor/ reinforcement done and lining fitted (well, needs small adjustments..)

Bump. Someone sell me the swivel joints that go between steering axle and rack. Must be from a power assisted rack.
