Work been getting done this week!

Our sponsors, Technica Motorsports and The Consignment Shed, collaborated this week and got us a new center support bearing and lower control arm bushings purchased and pressed.

Saturday we're going to have our busiest work day to date. Full suspension overhaul is the plan, so expect plenty of pretty pictures provided by MotorSportMedia sometime this weekend.

Also, hoping to announce yet ANOTHER sponsor in the next few days. We're just trying to make sure everyone is on the same page before announcing them.

Our 3rd true build date on the John Allen Special was today. A full house including all drivers, volunteers and special guests! Unfortunately due to one driver making final prep on his shop's 24 Hour of Daytona car we were down 1 person but we made due!

For ChumpCar we cannot do much and stay in the budget. Make safety and maintenance items are open to fix/repair/replace to make the car able to make it through a 24 Hour race and this is what we tackled today for the suspension. We had our sponsors Technica Motorsports and Consignment Shed setup our driveshaft with new parts and get it back together. We then pooled funding from the team to get the suspension. Missing a few parts that we ordered a little late so we'll finish up in a few weeks.

What we started with... who has seen fresh out of the box E30 replacement shocks that were not a performance version? lulz

First myself and Rich tackled the rear end. You will see we did install some sport springs that none of us wanted on our own E30s. So we'll run them. Not very stiff and barely lower the car but I guess every little bit helps.

Next Thomas, Rich, Chris and Trevor got to work on the front. Since we still need top mounts(more details on that in a second) we just took it all apart first. You'll see that we had to grind out one of the studs... someone has been in here and REALLY stripped out the stud. The torque on these is not very much guys... lulz

We sourced quite a few bumpers(still hunting for more) and decided to start painting. No paint boots or anything here. Just place them in a tree and bust out the spray paint!

Oh and Josh showed up... rolling in like a bauss in his Technica T-Shirt!

Back to work. Get the rest of the front end installed to the point we could. Get bumpers mounted. Everyone jumped on the car at this point to tackle all at once. Removed the dashboard as well which was a fun process.

The crew we had today. Unfortunately all the 'extra' cars blocked all the E30s. From our experience with E30s I think we can make this thing last for 24 Hours!

We were back at it. We are working to get the car ready for a shakedown at a BMWCCA HPDE event. One of our drivers will be piloting it and I hope to be able to get it out for a single session. We'll see how that will work out. The car is coming along nicely and did get it back on the ground. Just need some livery and wings and we'll be set. Looking VERY good IMO.

Huge thanks to Technica Motorsports and the Consignment Shed as they assisted again getting this setup. We also would like to welcome Motorsports Hardware on board. You'll see their studs a little bit later in the thread. We did not fully install as wheel bearings will be installed first.

 Enjoy!

 Goodies coming in!

Then when trying to re-fire the car we decided to really spend a little time to figure out why the car has trouble firing. Then once fired it runs terrible until it warms up. So we get out the multi meter and figure out what the issue is. Plenty of fuel smell and realize we have no spark. Have voltage to the oil and coming out of the coil. So let's check on the cap/rotor... Oh dear. This doesn't look too good... haha

I have been enjoying the build and all the great photos. Just didn't want to clutter up the thread with a "COOL BUILD!" post when I really didn't have much else to add.

I guess maybe I should have. So...

 COOL BUILD!

And keep up with the posting/photos/etc since I am very much enjoying it. Even if it is a diving board ETA. ;)Comment

For once, cluttering up a thread is a welcomed site. We have sponsors (Technica Motorsports, The Consignment Shed, Motorsports Hardware, Mashedup Graphics, MotorsportMedia) that all want to see how well we are being followed. It means a lot to them when we can say that our build thread on r3v is now on its 4th page, has god knows how many views, etc.Comment

... on top of that, we also are running a BMW CCA HPDE in March, probably 20 some odd autocross events, and our own private track day. The car is going to be one busy ETA.Comment
