I thought the e36 coolant temp sensor for the ecu was blue... (closest to radiator)?

hmmm not sure what color it was supposed to be, just know that the one in the front hole was originally there, the one in the rear hole is the m20 sensor i installed.sigpicFellow e30 enthusiast

You want to use the brown sensor from the M20 for the swap. Twists right into the rearward sensor spot on the head.Originally posted by LJ851kingston is the play by play announcer for this thread.

maybe its a cheap aftermarket sensor? not color coded? it was in the motor when i got it from a 1995 325i m50tu auto.sigpicFellow e30 enthusiast

Im getting so pissed of waiting for shipping on my ECU it was supposed to be in on friday, on friday it was in kentucky, im in RI, it went to puerto rico, way out of the way for no reason. also eagerly waiting my harness from markertmotorworks and harness coverssigpicFellow e30 enthusiast

Got my harness conversion from dave @ markert motor works today, along with the harness covers and the dust shield that goes behind the flywheel, and a set of knock sensors. If all goes as planned the swap should be in the car saturday!sigpicFellow e30 enthusiast

yeah, its just the temperature sending unit for the instrument cluster. you can take it out of your factory m20, the brown one. i just ordered one for my car 90 325is and it was like 20 bucks maybe.sigpicFellow e30 enthusiast
