Quick History: I fell in love with the e30 since i was probally ten, dad drove the grey one for a long long time and then he handed her to me, This is my third e30.
First one was a 87 325i delpi grey with 330,000 miles, sadly she was wrecked. I had the engine rebuilt, i rebuilt the tranny and put it all back together.
Second one was one of my favorites becuase it was raw, ie two door e stripped down with aluminum door panels no carpet and two seats, if i remember right it was around 2,300 with me in it, It had the 325i motor with the bavauto chip, raw and fun.
Current one was rough on the out side but was in good running condition, so since i already did the mechanical rebuild for the grey, interior for the second i thought i would paint her and remove all the dents. Finally got some plastic bumpers and the out side is currently done except a good polishing.
Now the fun part, since the exterior is 95% taken care of we shall begin with the turbo.
Set up:
Garret T4 turbo inlet says a/r .50 (honestly i do not have a lot of specs from it just that it was possibly from a 7.2 diesel GMC)
Walbro 255
Megasquirt 3.0
2.7 e block
i head welded
MB bolts
stock head gasket
God speed intercooler
Dan Pinder exhuast manifold
evo 9 injectors 560 cc
ssqv hks bov
tial 38 mm wg
2.5" exhaust straight
2.75 intercooler piping
south bend clutch
custom wiring harness
planning on what ever it takes to shut up both my friends sti and evo 9 just so i can for once say i have the faster car, let alone NO CAR PAYMENT (the evo is left the sti wrecked, ill do what ever it takes to beat him by .01 seconds in the quater mile just so he has to go back and re think his plan and figure out a way to surpass me which when he does ill already be thinking of the next thing so i can surpass him again to drive him crazy, i mean hell its only a slow 'stock' evo)
Started by getting the body dent free and laying down some etcher primer

most of the dents were removed and sanded down, decided to practice with the etching primer and lay down some thin coats across the whole car.

then layed down some primer to build up and started blocking.

front right fender was pretty much ruined by the PO, tried to fix it the best we could but decided on another fender i had.

you can see the bondo on the new fender trying to fix the small dent on the fender.

overall blocking of the car

just trying to get it perfect!!!

again more perfection

taping the car for some white paint

finally looks good

first coat of white done

first coat of clear

first visible dribble

love this photo

needs some buffing now!!

out she comes

moving her out for the first time in probably a 2 months

and the grin

o happy days

This is the way it sat for proablly another 2 months

After finally getting the nice fitment of the rear bumper i drove it to work, with painted tails

And i wanted that sleeper look so i painted the bottle caps black.

Cleaned valve cover

i know terrible picture but its a wrinkle finish.

started cleaning the block

Dan pinders manifold from the dude i bought it from on his motor.

My intercooler fitment i decided to flip it upside in the end

before i start pulling shit out :)

grill on with flash

with out flash

slighly used walboro 255 lphr pump ready to go in

started to pull all the unused shit and getting ready to pull the motor

tial 38mm new from a e30tech member

finally a good photo no more blurr

getting ready for the wire tuck

and the engine gettin prepped so i can just drop it in looks so mean

taping off the bay so i can paint it black

time to put in the new valve seats after the head has been welded and machined flat

all the parts ready to go in

my battery cable vs oem

then after finishing everything up and installing the motor

theres ash on the motor from our bon fire the night before

my wiring mess

this wiring will all go away when i get it up and running i have just been doing lots of testing to get it to spark... also notice the evidance of the fire i was going to push it into... the ash decided to leave a note on my motor

my swede dash with my mess of wire with a pile of baking powder to absorb the water

gauges tried to match them as best i could to the oem gauge cluster

mounted intercooler

old photo of my building the motor

then finally after hours getting the motor to mate to the trans

getting cold out side

did a compression test after running the motor just a little from 1 to 6 order got 162 149 170 163 162 150 dont think thats too bad
then i sold it :)

photos before the turbo install

blah some photos need to repaint the front clip and bumper

too much boost which btw it does blow at 10 psi lol

some video's
checked the plugs
1-3

4-6

and heres what cruise week is
and some very wimpy videos i wish it sounded more bad ass o well
heres a quick video of the new exhaust, it really quieted down, and all there is is a straight pipe into a 22 ebay special muffler
btw its carbon fiber dawg
this clutch is confusing some times it holds with out an issue and sometimes it wont hold. im not sure whats up with it. maybe this weekend ill throw in the good one.
also oil pressure question
2k i get a nice 12 psi for oil pressure
however when at idle im below the ten mark and it looks like its barely above the 0 mark.... between 0 and 10 there is no resolution. so im wondering should i increase the oil weight?
giggidy
Welp made it home, Decided to trailer the car down there since im still iffy about everything. well first things first i thought the trailer was lower so when we went to put the car on the trailer i dented and magically removed my exhaust. crushed it and dented it and im pretty sure it cracked a weld somewhere but thats a semi easy fix.
after we got it up on the trailer

Crusing down the road

Next on our way down we had a blow out/tread removal from one of the trailer tires.

Jon chills as i change the tire

Unloading it

The next morning after playing with some mustangs and hondas and everything else

party central

Finally today was able to race a newer hyundai genysis R-spec. I really just wanted to see where i was as in speed. From a roll i walked pretty hard on him which was pretty sweet. from a dig it was a little closer maybe 2 cars by 70. That was fun to finally see my hardwork being used!!! And i did drive it the 130 miles home from Ocean City. Also i got 25mpg on the way home thats awesome!!
When i find the videos ill post them up
not sure if i mentioned this or not but apon putting the car on the trailer i sorta removed the exhaust bc the trailer was so high
light modification of exhaust

and my new exhaust strap

love these rims but not sure how im gonna get them

how they look on ck's car

0-60 in about 5 i think
well its now put away for a couple months sucks but its happens. im at 15 psi and is running pretty well. im guessing around 330 whp which isnt bad. and my clutch is still holding dont know how but it is.
any way heres where it will sit for a while

and a burnout is it possible to do a burnout with out an lsd like this one???
also goal while im at school is getting a blue tooth for the ms and for the computer and be able to connect that way. THEN write an app to connect to my phone too so i can read some gauges off my phone !!!!!
so remember that comment on how i feel like i should be at more power. well this is just a little comparison to a map that frozensolid found and was running with some success and mine very very very very conservative map. which is a good thing but im glad i found it. Now i will be reading the map off the ms tomorrow asap to confirm this find but does any one else see anything strange?

hes running a 2.5 but im running a 2.7 heres what i pulled of ms
if you guys can read it

mine

frozen solid does any one see a large discrepancy besides mine only going to 200kpa and the top side is compressed alot?

Friday Night!
reason i was only going to 5k was because i was trying a new tune. didnt wanna get happy and rev it to 6k or 7k and not be paying attention.
was unable to get any more road tuning done on saturday due to me not being able to get rear brake pads. o well however i did play with this

Its so loud i literally went def for 30 seconds. any way heres a video too
this is what i have been doing at school as you can see only that middle section of inter cooler is being used effectively or is being over run but there is defiantly ways to improve its efficiency but most of it is in the end tanks design
now this was a quick sketch i did so the inter cooler isnt perfect

do you not see the flames? lol
so i wanted to add some history. one weekend at school sophomore year a group of us decided were gonna drive to blue hole and go swimming. never been there never heard of it but heard plenty of stories. after driving around for about 2 hours prior we finally find the road and decide to continue. If you have ever been to blue hole in wv you will know how terriable the road is to and from. Its about a 11% grade for about 2 miles on roads that many trucks have rolled off the edge and flipped off. people have died going to the bridge but i have never been and it was the e30 or a tibaron.
here is a topograph of the road to blue hole

as you can see its very steep
most of the edge of the road was 1 and 1/2 lanes so passing was very hard. very little guard rails and most of the edge was cliffs like this. there were spots that had about 1' wash out spots. i drove the e30 like the blazer placing the tires on the highest spots and on top of all the rocks but avoiding the sharp ones so i would puncture a tire. i think i bottomed out once in the dirt from a really deep washout. stock suspension and stock tires.

after about 30 minutes goin down this washed out dirt road. we finally made it to the bridge.

where we got stuck lol so i kicked the other 3 fat asses out however i was still catching on the exhaust so i told them to grab the bumper and lift up so i could make it over and we eventually got it!!! the end result was a cracked exhaust at the resonator.

the bridge is 80' high and i was geeking out driving over this thing since i didnt see any one drive over it. ignore the whales on the lower part of the screen.
after swimming for about 30 minutes and spelunking around we decided to leave on the other side of the bridge hoping for better roads. but nope. the little eta just crawled up the roads and with roughly 900lbs in the car there was very little spinning lol. what a trip i wasnt too woried but the other fellas were freaking out like school girls. no real carnage and after removing the exhaust the car finally sounded bad ass so it was a good trip
after trying to find some photos of the road i found this lmfao even in the gmc 3500 it was just as scary
CAUTION: You must have a high clearance vehicle (a pick up truck at a minimum) and 4 wheel drive is perferrable to go down this road. The last mile or so is a very UNIMPROVED narrow road with rocks and potholes and no room to pass an oncoming vehicle or to turn around. It has a steep, 80 foot drop-off on one side. Road is at a steep downhill pitch with loose rock surface. Be very careful.
next during the middle of my bumper swap i ran with the prime grey bumpers and some red valance from the late model. went autocrossing with a little drifting didnt want to do too much and get kicked out of the organization. what a blast i love you little e30 ill see you soon!!!
so i have an exhaust leak and i think thats the sound i was hearing. but thats better then what i thought it was wrong.
did a compression test and it was 159 all the way across it was much better and more consistant then before which was like 140 to like 165. i think the rings finally reseated them selfs and now i have a perfect motor the exhaust leak sounds like the manifold gasket.
well a little progress mounted the rear valance thanks again mat!!!!

then installed. i gotta remove the cover again and fix the bracket for the one bracket mount

then i started cleaning my shop... and thats what i wanted to really do.
then i found my drawing i purchased for a trailer still want to make it but well see

thennnnnn i started dissaembling the rear end i got from mike and here we go

that area were the clump of shit the bolts were loose so im in the middle cleaning the housings then maybe some paint and store it for a little while no motivation to swap those
went to my local pub talked to the bartender then discovered the stock pile of crown bags.
since mattb is blowing me off ill make my own shift boot from this!!

welllllll apperently dan pinders exhaust manifold cant handle spark retard

that was two touches to the metal and it blew through it
then i research on how this is a copy from proturbo by danpinder then ebay copys dan pinders manifold
then at my schools 3d printer i made a new emblem
