Just heard my friends 2jz swapped Miata run yesterday. He is running a straight pipe off the turbo and dumped in front of the engine, but it is relatively quiet. Apparently he is running a $15 insert of some strange design that is ridiculously effective.

Huh, definitely! I like my cars as loud as possible, but my dad will be doing some decent driving while I'm away at college, so if its not much trouble, I'd love to know!

Also in order to run things between the subframe and mount i had to have my exhaust mostly fitted/welded in place then pull the header starter and mount to finish weld it.

A turbo car is generally quieter on a straight exhaust than an n/a car. A 5.0 V8 will be loud straight piped.

Yes it will, thus the insert.

That 2j was not straight pipe loud, even for a turbo car. The insert+turn down made it very reasonable. I had heard it before without the insert and it was stupid loud.

Another 5.0. This ones seized, even though a month ago it turned my hand. I left the spark plugs out for a few days while I was away from home, and it must have rained or something. Its just locked. Everything else is ready though, just need to actually find a good one and through it in one night.

Once the other one is in and running, I'll tear the other one down to see what the issue it, it may become the engine I build. Just depends what the problem was...
