Picked up an m20 oil cooler from pick n pull today....

Yup. Get a late model harness and it will be either 100% PnP (if you get a wiring harness from a 325i with an airbag), or it will need minor modification (1988 to non airbag 1990 325i).

What exact kind of modifications would need to be done for the airbags?

Engine should be here monday.

Ordered M20 mount arms, poly 75d engine and trans mounts, poly diff bushing, and front subframe reinforcement plates.

Got the car up in the air to start ripping out guts

Finally got the engine safe and sound on a stand in the garage

A little of the stuff I ripped out. Drained all the fluids as well

Almost ready to come out
Mainly removed engine bay A/C lines and the condenser. Started working on removing the diff.

Made some good progress today I'd say. Didn't have too much time since I had school till kinda late.
But I received my late model m20 harness

Yanked the m42 one out. Almost there

And got the driveline out!

Waiting on a hoist. I've been working on other things, like getting the diff and stuff out.

Most nuts are corroded on so it takes time.

The dang wheels didn't even want to come off!

I was going to drop the tranny first too, since im selling it.

I'd recommend pulling the engine and trans as one piece. Really saves a lot of time and trouble.

Is it easier than it looks? Seems like it would be easier with the trans off, but I've heard of a lot of people doing them together.

youlld spend more time unbolting the trans then taking them both out in one shot.
