Different Diff for turbo, reinforcing rear suspension and arms, and more then likely Ground Control for coil overs. Wider rims/tires. Maybe roll cage- more for looks.

I will talk with my guys on monday and let you know what you need for your swap from the 318.

Is everything ok with your stock motor?

Yeah I was planning on those too. Except I won't be able to afford coilovers for awhile. It's on bilsteins/eibach right now I think.

Lookin good! Pay no attention to Devon, he doesn't even know where jack points are on e30's or how to put an exhaust on. I'm sure this project is on safe hands.

          Go here be happy!

Apparently one of the previous owners of my 318is didn't know how to jack up an e30 either. Notice the damage under the passenger door?

Anything specific I need to look out for or is it pretty straight forward?

So far I'm thinking i'll need different engine mounts, g260, 325 driveline, what else?
I'll give you a real answer without telling you that you need fucking coilovers and a roll cage to put the engine in...

You'll need the mounts and mount arms for an M20, the subframe is the same so no worries there. I personally run OEM mounts on mine but of course most people go with the poly on higher HP applications.

You'll need the 260 trans, shifter setup, and driveshaft. Since there is a small guibo and large guibo make sure you end up with a matching combo between the driveshaft and trans, haha. You can keep your trans brace since it's the same but you'll want to replace the rubber mounts. You'll want to swap the differential out for a couple reasons: 1. It's a 4.10 ratio and most turbo guys like to run a longer gear, I run a 3.46 LSD. 2. It's s small case and that thing will break quickly!

For cooling you could keep your M42 radiator, people run them with M20 engines and 24v engines. If you want a little more capacity you'll want a late model 325 or E36 radiator in there. It's a direct fit, uses the same top mount.

I believe there "may" be a bit of wiring involved but I have never personally done the M20 in the 318is. If you search around the forums you should be able to find the info you need on this.

You should also run some 245 rain slicks. That way traction will never be an issue and you can DD the car in the rain :D

Hey MR 325 I wasn't trying to tell him to get a roll cage and all that. I was just saying what I will do. And your right on the money on the things he needs! ;)

Thanks a lot. Seems pretty straight forward. Yeah I knew I had to do something with the diff. What do 3.46 LSDs come out of?

What type material engine and trans mounts do you recommend?
                    ALuminum, Poly?

So, do you know what year g260 I should be looking for? I saw that there was little variations between the years?

For the wiring, I was going to pick up a m20 harness and was hoping that would be all that I need for that.

The 3.46 was offered in the E23, E24, and E28. You'll need E30 flanges and rear cover for it.

Don't get solid mounts, whatever you do. I'd go with AKG or IE poly mounts. You could buy this set of engine and trans mounts, seems reasonably priced to me. I have no first hand experience with them but I've heard good things.

For the trans, you can really use any 260 trans. You want an 86+ trans though so you can run the late style aluminum shifter setup. If you get a trans from an Eta car you should run it with a longer 323i throwout bearing though.

You'll need the M20 harness of course but double check on any wiring differences. You may need to find the harness from a 91 325i as I believe airbag cars had some harness differences.

Thanks a ton for all that help!
I was looking into those AKG mount sets and was gonna order them up, was just gonna research how they were, but if you've heard good things I trust that.

I'm having trouble finding a g260 around me for sale, which is odd because I thought there would be a lot. I haven't looked to hard yet though.

With the proper setup that engine should be gnarly.
