Whats up with all the noobs thread bashing? If every single person on this forum or for that matter every other BMW forum did the same exact thing to their BMW it would bore the shit outta me. It is good to have people do some new things here and there.

          Nice brakes!

This is such a rad swap. I have always loved the 2002 but always wished it was faster by modern standards while retaining a NA 4 banger.

The exhaust is fully done but need to put it on the lift to take pics.
On another note. We fully cleaned and died the carpet black. And also did some custom metal work for the inside to house the power outlet along with the stereo and misc. paper/crap holder:

Dude, that's some serious sickness. I assume you don't do anything half-assed, so you'll finish off the interior proper yeah? Could you take a pic of the cluster mounted in the dash from further away or is it not done yet?

And to all the trollers/haters, a turbo M10 has been done many times before, it takes a lot more craftsmanship and skill to swap a motor designed by engineers that are paid hundreds of thousands if not millions to develop a drivetrain that will be the best in the class for a specific car. Then you throw that out the window and drop it in a car that was developed almost 40 years ago.

As for smog restrictions, these counties require smog:
Alameda, Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Kern, Kings, Los Angeles, Madera, Marin, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Nevada, Orange, Sacramento, San Benito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Luis, Obispo, San Mateo, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Solano, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Ventura, Yolo, Yuba

And certain zip codes in these counties: El Dorado, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Sonoma.

If you smogged it when you got it, you could use the car in another county and register it there and not require smog.

Although I imagine you wouldn't have an issue getting it BAR'd. It's a US spec motor and I imagine you already have all the smog equipment to hook it all up, the only thing you might run into is not having a factory ECU?

Have not decided what we will do with the interior. I will take a picture of the cluster just need to finish it off. Smog not rely an issue as car will be titled out of state. But could be bard with proper work done.

I'd BAR it myself. Is it for a client? No point in risking a Dealer/Repair License over a couple of bucks, how much do you think it would cost you to get it smog legal in california?
