little update. good news, we found a trunk (junkyard) and a fender (2002 FAQ) all we need is a driver side door! with the other fender we got stripped fit, bonded, and fiber glassed both turbo flares to the fenders. Got more rust patches fixed, and got some bondo on the car. thats it for now.

Yesterday and today we got a lot done on the car. We fixed and patched all of the rust on the rear, welded up the rest of the rear clip, and even got dirty with some fiber glass stuff. I cut out the passenger side fender and fit the turbo flare to it. Experienced my first time welding which wasn't bad at all not perfect but the welds were strong. I got the pedal box out which had a huge hole in it, while i was taking it out i also found holes in the driver side frame rail. Oliver cleaned up all of the welds and also made patches for holes in the rear of the car.
still cutting out rust from the car and patching them, there is getting to be less and less holes now. oliver got the frame rail patched up and looking good also starting in welding up the driver side floor last night. He also go to bonding and molding both rear turbo flares. I got to disconnecting the wiring harness, with labeling and taking pictures of everything. The wiring harness looks really bad is some places along with the old wiring, anyone buy a brand new harness that fits with the 02?
while that was out of the way i got to cut out more rust, and grinded down the fiberglass from the rear flares. got to draining all of the fluids in the car and took the radiator out.
Lots of pictures

Not bad for a rookie.

we got turbo flares last week. Oliver was working hard on fitting one of the rears on. Cutting and banging the wheel well so we can weld that up for more strength. We taped it up to see what it was like for kicks. While he was doing that, i went to work on sanding the whole gas tank, there was A LOT of rust on that thing. Took awhile but got some primer on it.

oliver got a jump start on fitting, cutting, fitting, cutting, and some more cutting to fit the rear panel in. I got to take apart the dash and everything that goes along with it.

we have been working hard to try and get the body where we want it. found some more rust and dents. i got most of the sound deadening out while Oliver was set on doing some body work. we have most of the exterior sanded down to metal. we got a rear panel today from the junk yard and it was in pretty good condition. we are going to need a new trunk, driver side door, and fender. Oh, and more rust.

Thanks man, I will send you a PM when we are held up on something.
To remove the paint we used something called a heavy duty vertical sander. Its kick ass.Leave a comment:

What did you use to remove all that paint? I am no expert on 2002's by a long run, but I have done a ton of work on my '74 including a lot of body welding. If you ever have any questions pop me a pm. I love to help people out where ever I can.Leave a comment:
