the faq is cool but its usually pretty dead, dont go on there much anymore, ill take that m3 off your hands :)Try rebuilding an s14.......... $$$$$$$$$$$ . Im gonna have to sell all my organs to finish my M3 restoration lol.
On a side note try 2002faq. Com great site, my parents daily drive fully restored 75 and 76 2002, one owned since 79 the other since 97. My first car was a 74 2002 that was fully customized and totally redone. If you have any questions theres nothing I or my father haven't done on an 02.Leave a comment:

I've easily got over 3 times what I paid for my 2002 in the engine alone. Take what you planning to spend and double it.Leave a comment:

I would recommend you do a bunch of research before you go and talk to anyone about building a motor so you at least know your basics. It will be easier for them, and you will know whats up and wont get ripped off by any conman.
I also recommend you get a ball park game plan of what you want from your motor, and what parts you want to use in it. Then go talk to Tim and let him know about your plans. He will then most likely talk you out of some stuff and talk you into doing other stuff. Hes a smart guy. Ask him what parts he can supply for you and what you should get your self. He can usually get stuff like valve guides made and stuff like that, but you will have to get the larger things like pistons and cams and so on.
How ever if you are having some one build a motor for you and they are doing all the work p repair to spend at least 4k. I spent about $500 just on the head work for my m20 and I had already done all porting, polishing, and much of the cleaning my self. Then you figure in the price of all the parts rockers ($80-$100), valves ($64-$80), springs ($115~), retainers ($50), seals, cam ($200-$500), valve guides, head studs (ARP are $200 +/-). So you can see things start to add up fast and before you know it you have spent a few grand just on the head.Last edited by deutschman; 05-02-2012, 08:23 AM.Leave a comment:

thanks a lot man, i appreciate, it for sure want someone that knows what he is doing. Please take your engine to Tim at Morgans Machine shop in Walnut Creek. It is well worth the drive, I can not recommend those guys enough. Tell Chris at the front desk that Jeremy with the 2002 sent you. He will know.
This guy can build anything from a Ferrari motor to American V8 or bike motor. He will take his time to talk you through what you are doing, and treat you well. 1 (925) 939-7346
When he worked on the m20 for my 2002 he caught some stuff that I know other people would have missed.
i dont want to be driving lets say to bimmerfest ( not this year) and have major issues. engine build is one of my biggest concernsLeave a comment:
