318is's are the best e30's (well, except for the s14's)

      nice score!

Also, that tranny will bolt right up to a 24V, it's what I used for my 325iS build
I am having a lot of fun with it, I think it was well worth the money.

Thats mostly the reason I bought it, I knew I could end up fixing it and getting another Red E30 some day. seeing as Slicktops are more sought after. As with the badge, Me Too lol.

Well theres good new and bad news. Lets start with the good!

      Replaced shift knob
      Before:

      After

Well my Blower motor completely shit the bed after work on sunday. Took it out and found out it wasn't even strapped in (Explains terrible noises every time i turned) and they were using a glove to shim it between the firewall cover and the blower motor cover...fuckin hack jobs.

      Glove shim

The bushing was also completely shot, Hard to tell, but its not even in there anymore. motor had about 3/8 Inch play in it.

Went to JY, took one out of the ETA there and I have heat again. Tho the old motor took the resistor with it on its way out. Yay.

      New one strapped in.

Well Now the bad news. On my way to school today I noticed a faint burning smell, not sure if it was from my car, but when I got to school I popped the hood, and checked the oil.

Starting to get coolant in the oil. yay. Profile gasket, this motor has almost exactly 70k on it.

Normally this wouldn't be an issue, I would love to refresh everything with new gaskets. but my bank account is slammed right now. (Someone buy my crack free dash plz)

Oh and then even better I get home and the DMV sends me a letter saying I need to get my car inspected in a month or my license is suspended. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU.

Now I gotta a throw an exhaust on there, get it inspected. pray to god I pass, then do the head gasket, pray the profile gasket holds up for the time being.

      FML kthnx bye

            UPDATE FINALLY:

Ive been busy off my ass, stupid boss at my part time job made sure i had absolutely NO free time. I also have a Full time Job, and go to school. So progress on the ederpy has been slow. My next day off is June 14th, with the exception of May 20th for GFEST.

Also did a car fax, car actually has 260,000 miles on it!:???:

What i suspected was a blown profile gasket was actually my car over-cooling itself The PO messed around with the temp gauge in the cluster. The engine never even remotely warmed up. Causing ALOT of condensation . Which can be mistaken for Milkshake.

Replaced thermostat, most of the cooling lines, all of the vacuum lines. bypassed the mess under the intake.

I did this all on easter sunday.

            How it started out

            Vacuum Lines...

            BE GONE YOU VIAL CONTRAPTION.

Good Job PO. Im VERY lucky this never popped off. It was just starting to leak when I took it off.

Word of warning, DONT order the lower radiator hose (Under the resivior to the water pipe) from Pelican, the hose they send you is massively undersized!!! I had to shove a 19mm socket in there and let it stretch out, took me a lot loner then i wanted it too.

The shit in most of the vacuum lines

            Tidyied up

            Much better

Car runs ALOT better now ! still a bit of a rough idle but the temp is perfect!

Got an exhaust welded on By Quads in Narragansett, should of added a resonator, way too much rasp. Dynomax Super Turbo. Very impressed with the work, MUCH better then where I brought my M50 Swapped E30 got get an exhaust made.

Fixed a rotted out sway bar bracket. PO put in eibach sway bars!! Still got a bit of front end shimmy around left hand turns.

            Suspenson work is next!!!

Ah the dash was sold to a fellow R3ver .

Their like 6 dollars off of partsgeek.com can be a bit of a pain to install! Expect the bolts to be rusty and have another one on hand! Mine stripped, then snapped -_- thankfully i was at school where we had plenty to choose from.'

Thanks guys! Car is going up for sale this summer, but Mvance allready has dibs!

                        I need a red 4 door e30 again!!!!

Been awhile Since Ive updated this. Really have just been DDing the car, and its been extremely reliable. not one single problem.

Back in May, Put in the JOMs in the front. Turned into a two day project because I was doing the control arms at the same time and the ball joint snapped off in the subframe . Had to drop subframe to get it out. Which actually wasn't bad at all.

I have a thing for fruity colors....

                              Then we went to GFEST

Then I went fishing(Thats not me on the dock)

Then over the course of the next few months, Graduated from school, Finished up my student hire for the Navy, quit my crappy department store job and got a Job at this awesome independent VW/Audi/BMW shop in Providence.Everyone there is big into BMWs and especially E30s.Co-Worker drives an M3.

Now having full access to a lift was awesome, yesterday put a new tranny in. Had it shipped from California with only 90k Miles on it, but the guy who sold it had no idea how it worked, so it was a gamble.

along with delrin shifter busings and a z3 1.9 shifter, holy crap this thing is tight. The PO loosened up the center console just to get it into reverse, now its a whole different car, Tranny makes no noises and shifts beautifully. Old tranny whined terribly in every gear. But shifted fine.

Car may be for sale soon,Or I may just keep it as a DD. just picked this up with intentions of going 24 Valve!
