I know! I'm about 4 hours south of you in NY and this is seriously blowing my mind! Hoping to take advantage of it tomorrow through the weekend to blast off some surface rust and give her a new coat of paint.

Nice Swanny, I'm thinking I might try my hand at some bodywork this summer. Are you just spraying outside with a gun and compressor?

I'm doing a makeshift paint booth under a car port for now w/ plastic and ventilation provided by some box fans. I'll have to get some pics up of the rattle can projects I've done...did a poor mans art car replica a few years ago. It turned out rather interesting.

I might just spray my car in a parking lot using the compressor from the wood shop I work at, only hickup is running the airline from the 3rd story window to the parking lot lol.

Found something that really took the wind out of my sails last night... No pics but 2 rust holes into the cabin. One on the passenger side front jack point and one on the drivers side front inner wheelwell. I can feel the carpet pad on both from outside. I'm going to fix them, but feeling a bit stupid I missed them when checking out the car.

that blows! my 318 did that under the dead pedal. I went cheap and cut out the majority of the rusty bits and used POR15 trunk rebuild kit. Held together for 3 more years till I found out one of the PO's replaced the rear quarter using only spot welds and a ton of body filler that eventually rusted through and fell apart.

Just run an extension cord out the window to the compressor!

I'm going to bust out the flux core welder and get them patched up, I just hope I can move the carpet aside enough, I really don't want to pull out the dash to get the carpet out.

Ordered some por15 to seal it up afterwards though.

This weather is killing my painting though...nothing is drying!

You shoudnt need to take the dash out to fold things out of the way to make room for your repairs...and any way if there was any hole in your floor you carpet should be plenty saturated to take anything you throw at it!

The front lip is actually a pfeba piece, but It looks like someone cut it for the brake ducts to fit. I may lengthen the brake ducts with some fibreglass or something because I kind of like the look, otherwise i'm going fully stock body wise (and i'm worried if I take the IX flares off i'm going to find a bunch of rust)

Swanny, cold weather coming, def not painting season yet!

I'm having a really hard time finding sheet metal because I don't have another car, going to hit up the only body shop I know of around me tomorrow to try and find something. Only thing I can find is 22ga, and thats not thick enough for floor IMO, will also suck to try and weld with flux core.

Will also be getting my bushings pressed and springs taken off shortly.

Been a few days since my last update. Havent gotten too much done this week, work has been loco and the weather is back to
                              Normal (cold!)

Got my strut housings all torn down and started to clean them up, only had a half hour spent on them so far.

Front struts were both blown. I have no idea how the PO drove this thing.

Got some loot from the mailman, AKG m3 style sway mounts and sway reinforcement plates. Just waiting for my new endlinks to mock everything up and mark the position for the sway mounts to get them welded. Then I'll be por15'ing them

Once again, work has been owning my life, but I did get a few bigger jobs taken care of.

I got my front strut assemblies mocked up and sharpie'd the mounting positions for the M3 style swaybar tabs, getting them welded tomorrow.

Had an old high-school friend step up and give me a hand with a couple things, which was a huge help today.
He's a wiring guru and tackled the slew of ghetto rigged audio wiring and got my stock bmw cassette deck in and working. We probably pulled out 5lbs of wiring in a huge nest.

Next up we did the complete tie rod assemblies, which to my surprise were a 20 minute job, didn't get any pics of this as I was pretty dirty and we were kind of in a rush.

Next we shot over to the shop he's working at right now, forgot to snap any pics of the actual shop but they are doing some seriously big work. Most japanese stuff but nothing wrong with seeing 2x 500+ hp skylines get tuned in the same afternoon. While we were there we borrowed the press to push out my old bushings and in with the new m3 offset CAB's.

Tomorrow i'll be cleaning and por15'ing parts, who knows I might even get the front end put back together if the por15 dries in time.
