I was thinking about it, but I really, really like my m42 for some reason. My dad's m20 is certainly faster, but it's not nearly as responsive and fun to throw around. Cabriolet already wants the entire driveline too, so probably no turbo m20 for me. It would be really fun though, and it'd be tons of power.

I can respect that. The m42 is definitely a great engine when done up right. Wish I had passed on the 5.0 swap and just slapped some itb's on her!
Do you really? I was thinking about what I could/should do, but any individual think (cam, 11:1 pistons, ITB's, etc) costs nearly as much as an m52 swap if I get the engine from pnp and mostly rebuild it (because i'd probably mostly rebuild my m42 at the same time).

The only problem I'd see is that I'm almost positive that that part of the tire is technically the sidewall since it's past all the metal bands. A very similar thing happened on my dad's m3, and he tried to patch it but ended up spending 600 bucks on new tires.
