Yes, Vivek is my real name . But unfortunately it's been a week, and the car's dropped about .5". I was expecting about 1.25".
Vivek's Vert.

I looked and felt around on the top and everything seemed to be fine. The spring seemed to be seated correctly but I'm only like 85% sure.
So a little update:
Back in 1991, BMW engineers decided to have the muffler of e30 late model 318i's clamp on instead of weld to the pipe. This design is awesome and allows one to easily change out the muffler without taking off the whole pipe behind the resonator and welding it together. Unfortunately for me, some dumbass in my car's past (I'm really sorry if you're on here reading this) decided he was smarter than BMW, and fucking welded the clamp to the pipe. Awesome. I was gonna have that muffler on in under 30 minutes, but now it'll have to wait until tomorrow since I have to go somewhere right now and I'll be busy for the rest of the day.The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Spent some more time trying to get the fucking muffler off. I think I broke through both the spot welds, but it's still stuck on there. I soaked it in wd40 and I'll try some more tomorrow morning. All I've been thinking is ffs it's clamped for a fucking reason. They didn't put a clamp on so some dipshit could weld it together. They put a clamp on so you don't have to fucking weld it. God damn it.The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Good luck with that, try to see if there is some other reason it's welded on. Poke around a bit no telling what else is waiting for you.Comment

From what I can see, there's really no reason for it to be welded. The clamp seems to be holding it perfectly fine, but there were two welds on it.The first car I ever rode in was an e30

I had KYB's on my last e30.. hated them.
Replaced them with billie sports and the ride-height dropped about an inch in the back. KYBs i think are gas charged shocks, and bilstein's are oil shocks with a gas cushion, gas charged shocks will push the car back up even if you get lowering springs. If I had to get new shocks again I would get Koni's. The car handled great on the billie's but the ride quality sucked.

I'll take pics tomorrow (if I still don't get it off). Basically there's a main pipe going to the resonator towards the front of the car. Onto this pipe is a larger diameter pipe, with some slits in it (so it can be clamped) that fits over the main pipe going to the headers. This pipe is clamped on, but someone welded it together at some point. I have to cut those welds to get the muffler off.

I may get better performance shocks somewhere down the line, but for now these are fine with my driving ability. The main issue is that they were super low earlier, but now it won't drop that low.I had KYB's on my last e30.. hated them.

Awesome. I got it all together, new exhaust on, spring pads removed. I can clear my driveway by about 1mm at this height.
I'll polish the tip later today.

If I hit it slightly wrong:

15mm spacers coming soon

And I completely forgot to take pics of the whole car :/The first car I ever rode in was an e30
