I haven't had power steering in my car for over 6 years now which it was my daily for most of that time. It's not that bad. But I want it back, especially when I go to a tighter steering rack and stickier tires.

i guess with a combination of those things with low speeds it would be nice.

Low speed takes a little bit of effort, but as long as your moving even a little bit the wheel will turn no problem i think. Sometimes in the parking garage, but i daily mine without power steering and i have never regretted the removal.

^ Idk man. While I haven't driven an e30, I've driven a miata without PS and I can say parking and other low speed maneuvering is a huge pain in the ass. Just makes the car less desirable to just jump in and drive all the time.

Sold the M52 and bought some truck wheels

Not much going with the E30, as per usual. Current plan is to clean it up a little, get power steering and A/C back in it, fix the sound system and just make it a nice place to be. It also got kicked out of the garage, and on to the street so I can park the daily inside when it snows haha.

It's really just quality of life things I've found myself caring about recently. Things to make me want to drive it more often.

They grow up so fast


Im trying to hold off on ac reinstall as long as possible. Only a 4 months a year weekend car.

Also, those two things were one of the main reasons I sold the Aluminum Monster, I missed daily driving an E30 and I didnt know what kind of headache I had ahead of me with those, in addition to the whole BAR/ smog thing here in CA, hence why I have my current E30...

I would write this summer off and start collecting the parts to at least do the power steering again, so you can start driving it again when the Taco needs a break...then you can start collecting the A/C parts so you can enjoy the following summer

Yeah some light wheels with decent tires would be so nice. I'm hoping to be able to do that this summer. I still have most of my power steering stuff so I'm also hoping to get that reinstalled before winter rolls around. It's really just quality of life things I've found myself caring about recently.
