Picked up this roof box to help haul shit on my upcoming trip.

    It's quite huge.

You're going to need a bigger bag.

I would absolutely keep the M20 in this car. Pull it, clean it up, re-work the head, add cam, add BavAuto headers & exhaust, chip it and drive the tits off of it. M20s are so awesome. 24v swaps are ghey.

If you go 24v you're going to want to bag it after you hit your oil pan on every little thing on the road :-P

Do a 24v swap like me!

Actually don't do it like, actually do it well. That's my honest advice. And don't do a regular old m50.

The only real reason to swap from a M20 to any 24v is if the M20 is junk. Doesnt sound like yours is. Car looks great, I love the color.

I already have half of the parts needed haha! Ideally I want to swap this car and keep the M20 and do a full, out of car rebuild for boost to slap in another e30.

I am kind of worried about that...

My plan is to do a full OBD2 M52. Then later on do an m50 manifold and s52 cams or something. Then possibly do boost even later on. Who knows...

The engine does seem healthy and M20's are known to last a while. The thing is, it has it's leaks and at >250k it could take only the smallest thing to ruin it. I'm thinking that it could be nice to take a 24v engine, completely refresh it out of the car, clean everything up and toss it in.

If I was currently in Colorado I would probably be in the middle of an m30 swap haha. There was a 535i E34 for sale for $500 with a running engine and manual transmission...

If I knew about that I would be in Colorado now picking it up and attempting to drive it home on a trip permit to strip and put the engine in my e28.
