Epiphanautic's 89' Zinno IX coupe project thread.

The Zinno 318i finally kicked the bucket (chassis rusting away+smashed oil pan)

    Pre lowering

Luckily he found a replacement a few months earlier that he had his eye on.
Saw this sitting under a tree and picked it up for 500 bones.
Originally a Colorado car and has 304K on it. The PO said the exhaust manifold broke and it would be 1200$ to fix. Turned out the welds from the downpipes to the flanges that mounted to the exhaust manifolds broke. Removed the exhaust, welded it up, and changed the oil and it started right up.

After a quick and dirty wash.

Changing the drivetrain fluids wednesday and doing a full cut and polish friday.

We are taking the hood from the 318 and painting the valence. My dad already took 90% of the dent out of the QP. M3 seat font seats and armrest/headrest rear from the 318i as well. Timing belt will have to be done soon as well. Im not very familiar with the IX so this is all new to me.

Wow, poor thing looks rough :( Still, at 304,000 miles I guess no car is a spring chicken. Good to see you guys rescuing it!

Damn, really? That QP looked pretty rough. That's pretty awesome. It's surprising how much is different on the iX.

Badass. Congrats. Quite the upgrade from the old POS 318

BTW, we all know how well Zinno takes to a cut and polish...I have no doubt that this car will look pretty fucking sweet when it's done

Looking forward to the progression of this one! Can't argue with a $500 iX.

We found a pinhole leak in the rad so im getting an aluminum one and selling him my old one. Otherwise things are going pretty well.
Changed all of the drivetrain fluids a few nights ago. Everything looked great except the trans fluid looked like it was never changed. Changing the trans fluid got rid of some of the whine and now everything sounds great.

Some pics of when he first picked it up.

                        After first wash.

My dad working on the dent.

Got our polish on yesterday. We didn't finish till late though so no after pics yet.
