more prep work today. pretty sure I can get the ITBs in tomorrow...

Airbox mods just about done. sanded the stack/trumpet thing smooth, and have JB welded it to the airbox. had to build up some plastic on the outside so the m30 AFM would seal. will post pics up shortly.

also got sick of looking at the ITBs with crappy paint on them. Took everything apart and treated the throttle body assemblies with acetone and a brush. Took a couple of hours, but they came out really well I think. Not sure if I need to clearcoat them.

Confirmed how to get the cruise control cable support added too. Just need another throttle cable wheel to mount on the same shaft between the 3rd and 4th ITB, plus a matching bracket for the cruise cable to mount to.

had a PDR guy over, cleaned up the vert and the wife's allroad. dude does metal fab and rust repair too, so bromance is inevitable. will definitely pair up on the IX coupe restoration.

still ticked about the MT1 parts order going south. Looking into ordering with a euro vin, and Levent's checking his sources. Despite the euro part embargo I received a bunch of parts today including the wide-angle driver's mirror, new OEM heated seat elements for my IX and the euro headlamp height adjuster cable and motors. will post some pics when I get a chance.

@southernboy (kevin) posted this pic on e30rapidic's Alpina C2 clone thread. He also has an Mtech2 IX Baur! His vert is a real Alpina C2 2.7 without the sexy front valance and stripe work.

Exterior looks pretty much exactly my pre-MT1 build without the HLCS - Jimmy Hill lip and all.

Its not that they're not avail but they are all blocked. It is way past the safety dot issue now. If it was not available on a us car you can not get it anymore no matter what it is.

Be weary of people selling new oem hood and bumper seals. They are blocked as well.

just ordered all the front and rear misc mtech1 hardware, stickers etc., including the air ducts and mysterious lower panels that nobody ever has.. we'll see what's really available from BMW shortly.

seems like it's only regulatory/safety affecting and large parts that are blocked from US order...

modded afm horn turned out ok

this was waiting for me when I got home

unpacked - everything was wrapped well and arrived safely.
unfortunately these side skirts are not for verts; hoping to trade for repo vert side skirts (or sell them and not run side skirts at all)

soda blasted part of the front panel

part numbers for the front panel and one of the skirts

will put these away for now, but plan is to strip them completely bare, get them repaired and then painted body color. probably leaving the bumpers chrome. Not sure what to do about the end caps since mt1 caps are different and NLA.

thanks ;-) yeah I've got TheVintage on my radar. I'll be ready with the following:
-- dbilas with a basic stage 1 AFM tune
    -- 3 new tires (rears + spare)
-- painted and mounted eurovalance + new fogs
-- new euro bumpers replacing the badly chromed ones on the car now
-- install hardtop seals and have the headliner re-glued

I also want to replace the decklid to get rid of the brake light wart, but this might have to wait until I get the MT1 installed.

    trunk's ready :-)

M20 3.1 with RHD ITBs, extensively reworked head

    inspiration via rav320uk and e30zone.
RHD ITBs are da bomb now. if/when they have an airbox they will be the go to ITB solution.

EDIT: this *may* be the same car (same color, appears to be right hand drive). has the new RHD plenum installed

picked up a spare m20 airbox and modified it for the m30 AFM. Wasn't difficult since the AFM inlet is the same width, just taller. Reused 2 of the holes, extended the opening in the upper airbox piece, and drilled 2 new holes.

Was also able to keep the air horn / velocity stack by cutting down the center to separate top and bottom. I then trial fit the 2 halves with duct tape (!) and they fit fine - full air flow from a larger cross section. So I filled the gap and JB welded the assembly.
