I am really loving your documentation. This build is fantastic, and you have an abundance of pictures for us to see your progress.
This build thread is really going to help me later down the line; I can feel it.
And, Diamantschwarzenegger is next to Lachssilber as best OEM color on e30s. Love both cars. Keep up the great work :up:Leave a comment:

Awesome thread. Love seeing two of the best E30's getting some properly good attention.Leave a comment:

Yep, the thread will get more focused pretty soon. Things are slowly coming together, and anytime I want to work on the car its a 45 minute drive. So the parts are scattered at the shop, my apartment, and my host's garage.
The spare S14... I made several mistakes with that engine. I was looking for a more affordable way of starting out this project and bought that engine. It had ~100k on the clock and the seller said it ran with good compression (had pictures to back it up). That S14 was brought to the shop and we looked it over. The engine was leaking from basically everywhere. Not significant, but it didn't have too much longer left on it without needing at bare minimum a new head gasket. But it would have probably bought me another much needed year...
Now looking back on it, I should have just said fuck it and dropped it in. I should have waited until I had a more secure income before rebuilding my S14. Dammit, dammit, dammit. I could have had 2 S14s... One for fun, one to slowly rebuild.
You live and learn. I sold it to someone for cheap, despite having better offers. More damns...Leave a comment:

Way to restore that m3. Does anyone else feel like a fool for not buying an e30 m3 sometimes?Leave a comment:

Whoa. Lots going on in here. So, you rebuilt the original S14...what about the spare S14? Always good to see another M3 restored. Make sure it's done right.Leave a comment:

Minor updates all around. The interior is (slowly) making it's way back in. I'm going to call this now: The car will see the road again in late March, early April. I'm getting a little crunched timewise here, so I'm really hoping it's sooner. I am completely over running my host's 2 car garage, so the pressure to get this finished and out of there is going to get worse. I can say with confidence that this will probably be the last time they let me use that garage (will take pics of said garage during next update)
On another note, anyone want to come out and help me bolt the hood on?
Head after glassbeading (one is mine, other S14 head is CATuneds)

I bought a tan carpet and tried to dye it black (Duplicolor). For whatever reason, it just didn't look very good and I didn't want to settle. I turned back to my original carpet, despite swearing not to use it again, and I'm glad I did.
Picture of carpet after it was pulled - pretty disgusting.

I was shocked by how clean it was after washing it.

Afterwards, I dyed it black and it looks really damn sharp. Like, mint carpet sharp. I will have a better photo for the next update.

Speaking of carpet:

Just some of the other parts waiting around:

I can't describe how much I love getting OEM parts

Jaywood's Voltmeter, with tint:

I found this dead pedal in the M3. Anyone have info?

Lukebox and Amp Rack is going in as well. I'm very interested to see how it sounds in the M3, especially compared to my non-amped 318.

Little rooster buddy who has been hanging around while I work

That's it for now. I leave you with this:
