    Warning, e24 content

It all started almost 20 years ago. My dad had a beat down, high mileage, 250k then, 85 e28 eta that was a hand me down car. What can I say, this is all his fault. I have been hooked ever since. About 6 months after getting my license, a friend of mine told me about this righteous car his Dad just gotten in a trade deal and I had to check it out. When I got there is was the venerable e24. I was blown away by its sex appeal. Then I made the mistake of driving it. Did I mention it was for sale? Going from an eta to a 635csi will make any 16 year old cream. Well cream I did. It could be mine for 8k but at 16 in the early 90s it might as well of been 80k. Dream crushed. But I never forgot.
Life happened and never came across the right e24 when I had the cash or when circumstances were right. Then, one evening sitting on the porch, drinking my Canadian Mist and perusing CL, I came across an interesting ad. One owner Texas car, e24, clean interior, good paint, bad motor. Well, as luck would have it, I had a spare m30 sitting, waiting to go into an e30. A deal was struck and she was mine. This is how she looked.

After getting her home, A buddy and I started to prep the engine bay to swap out the m30. Turns out, the old motor had a bent valve and a broken rocker arm but only 125k miles. This one will get rebuilt and possibly find its way into my e21, maybe.

A quick cleaning and this was the result.

Then I went to the beach and drank a lot of beer and had sex with my wife.

    Then out with the old

Then I started building my coilovers. I used billys in the rear, and shortened the strut housings one inch to accommodate e30 front struts (thanks Slammin!). I am using universal sleeves and 6" springs. 385 lbs in the front and 325 in the rear. I have a few springs to play with but that is where I am starting.

Then I picked up a couple sets of wheels. 17" Style 32's, can't go wrong with them, and some A.R.E. 16x10s. I am a little concerned that the A.R.E.s will look to small but I am open to opinions.

Today we begin hooking up the harness and cleaning the tank out and getting her running. My buddy is working on that while I dive into the suspension. I will keep you guys posted on whats up.
Here is a teaser for what is next....

    Yes, original miles.

So yesterday we were able to get the car on jack stands, old awesome wheels off, and removed the rear suspension. The plan was to have the rear coils on but the top nut on the oem shocks was fine thread and the billys were not.. So.. I hit true value on the way into the office this morning and we are good to go. Should have them on this evening and the rear mocked up with the style 32's. Also did a little cleaning while we were in there. Original plan was to paint the wheel wells black but this is what happened after a little degreaser and pressure washing..

Also got the motor wired, plummed, and cleaned..

Tonight should have the rear done and front off. I will update you guys on progress tonight or tomorrow morning.

                  very nice.
Some Euro bumpers would make it perfect.

qft. I have a line on a front bumper and valance and am looking for an e12 based rear euro if someone knows where to find it. The body work to make the early one work is much more simple.

                            Rear suspension is done.

This is with the rear suspension unloaded. I expect to be tucking wheel in the rear once it is off the jackstands.
