    Life With E30's

I've been a member on these boards since I bought my first e30 in July of 2011. Although I have been active, I never really took the time to document the progress of my builds, so I will do that here!

Here is my 87 325is that I bought in July of 2011. The car had 370,000 km's on it, and from what I could tell it still had all the original suspension bits installed . From the first drive home, I was hooked.

I immediately replaced the brakes and rear shocks and started driving the car. It was a great deal of fun, but I started to realize that a stock e30 wasn't going to be enough for me.

The first winter I completely overhauled the suspension with IE3 springs, bilstein sports, all new bushings and fixed a bunch of rust. The battery box, jacking pocket, and both front jacking points were completely rotted out and replaced, and anywhere with surface rust was hit with some POR 15 and fresh undercoating. Sorry I do not have many pics of this part of the build

Once the spring time came around, this happened.

    And then this happened.

M52b28, full obd-1 conversion, s52 cams, tuning from TRM. The swap was a lot of work, and I learned a lot from doing it. So now my zinno coupe is my daily driver, and next year it will be seeing regular track duty. It is dead nuts reliable, and the m52 is powerful enough to be a lot of fun on the track without being too much to handle as I am still learning a lot about how to drive well on the track.

So, that now leaves me with a pretty much finished car, and nothing to work on. This brings us to my most recent purchase.

A few weeks ago, me and a buddy were trailering back the e30 he had just purchased, and we saw this black vert with a for sale sign on the side of the road. After a few weeks of trying, I was finally able to get in contact with the owner and we set up a time for me to come look at the car. Needless to say, I bought it and am now the proud owner of 2 e30's. I suppose I just need a 4 door, m3 and touring now to complete the set

I will try my best to keep this tread updated with my day to day workings on both of my cars, and I will try to get some better pictures of my 87 coupe as I don't have any of how it currently sits.

    Thanks for looking all,

    -Andrew

Yeah I absolutely love the m52. Sometimes I miss the 12v rawness of the m20, but I dont miss the constant valve tick and burning oil :D

Thanks a lot. Yeah the m42 harness covers really go a long way to making things look nice and organized. They are really not as hard to fit as a lot of people make them seem, just a few minutes with the zip ties to get the harness in there.

I am taking the truck tomorrow to go pick up the vert, so I'll get some better pics of her and post them up. I also found my old sd card that has a lot of progress pics during the build of my zinno 2-door so I will hopefully post some of those up in a few days
