OK guys I am seeking help now. Last night I planned on putting the engine in the car. When i went to mate the trans it did not work. The input shaft one didnt look like it fit at all and it hit the rear main before the bell housing. What trans do I have?
this is what came up with the vin sticker on the trans.

      VIN WBACB3313NFE01673
Vehicle Accidents/Service Get Vehicle History Report NOW
      Year 1992 Engine Type 2.5L L6 DOHC 24V
      Make BMW Driveline RWD
Model 3-Series Ground Clearance No data in.
Trim Level 325i Front Brake Type Disc
Manufactured In GERMANY Rear Brake Type Disc
Body Style SEDAN 4-DR Anti-Brake System 4-Wheel ABS
      Transmission 5-Speed Manual
      Standard Seating 5
MPG Hwy 25 - 26 miles/gallon Optional Seating No data
      MPG City 18 miles/gallon Tires 205/60R15
Dealer Invoice No data USD Wheelbase 106.30 in.
MSRP $27,990 USD Curb Weight 3098 lbs

Also the flywheel did not fit over the dowel pin on the rear main. I guess im asking what do I need to make this work? e30 flywheel clutch and pp? e30 bell housing? or whole new trans? Here are some pictures of the trans and numbers.

BTW here is how the engine looks in the bay. Im going to have to shift the MC a little no big deal though.

I would pull the engine back out and try to mock the tranny up while it's out - I know from experience that pulling these trannies separate from the engine while the engine is in the car is hard... can't imagine what it's like when putting the tranny back in.

The general consensus on the forums seems to be "pull them out together, put them in together"

The engine is back out of the car, just dropped it in to get a idea of where everything is and how the intake mani is gonna fit

If you are using an M20 flywheel the E30 pilot bearing ID is too small for an E36 input shaft. I have no idea what else you would need to make that Getrag work with an M20 as the only experience I really have with M20's is pulling them out, selling them or scrapping them and installing something more fun.

I know M5X/ S5X with a G260 works with slight modification but I have no idea if an M20 will mate with a G250 like you have there. Myself, my brother and my grilfriend have all blown up Getrag 250's, they seem to be one of the weaker transmissions out of all the older Getrags. I'd say even if you could make the 250 work sell it and get a 260 as they seem to be more stout.

then buy a getrag 260, weld your fenders back together and flip your wheels around

So you tried to use the wrong transmission, it didn't fit, and now you are giving up?
